A Job That Fits Your Life. A Career That Can Grow With You.
There's more to life than work, and we think that's a good thing.
Maybe you're an artist, a performer, a recent graduate, or someone with passions and ambitions outside your job. Maybe you're looking for steady employment, a supportive team, and an opportunity to build a career where your personality and communication skills actually matter.
At Public Outreach, we value individuality, reliability, and the different experiences our team members bring to work.
We're hiring outgoing, motivated people to join our Greater Toronto Area fundraising teams, representing nonprofit organizations working in children's healthcare, mental health, humanitarian relief, and other important social causes.
You'll connect with members of the public in shopping malls, hospitals, busy public spaces, residential neighbourhoods, and other community locations across the GTA.
Your goal is to start meaningful conversations, share why these causes matter, and inspire people to become monthly donors.
No fundraising experience required. Paid training provided from day one.
If you enjoy meeting people, can stay positive when someone says "no," and want a job where your personality is an asset, we'd love to meet you.

Whether you're interested in developing professional skills, building confidence, or eventually leading a team, there are opportunities to grow.
WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY DO
This is an active, face-to-face fundraising position - not a desk job, call centre, or remote opportunity.
You'll:
- Approach and start conversations with members of the public
- Represent nonprofit organizations and explain their missions
- Share stories about the people and communities these organizations support
- Inspire individuals to become monthly donors
- Answer questions and communicate important issues clearly
- Work toward individual and team fundraising goals
- Receive regular coaching and feedback
- Develop confidence, communication, public-speaking, and leadership skills
This is paid fundraising, not volunteer work or petitioning.
You'll be asking people directly to financially support nonprofit organizations through monthly donations.
Your hourly wage is guaranteed, but your performance and results still matter.
WHERE YOU'LL WORK
Your interview and initial training take place in person at our downtown Toronto office.
After training, you'll work with your fundraising team at assigned locations throughout Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area.
Depending on your campaign and team assignment, you may work:
- Inside shopping malls
- At hospital locations
- In busy indoor public spaces
- Outdoors on city streets
- In residential neighbourhoods through door-to-door fundraising
- At other community locations throughout the GTA
- You must be able to reliably travel to your assigned fundraising location.
Carpools may sometimes be available, but they are not guaranteed.
This is a physically active position involving extended periods of standing, walking, and interacting with the public.
Outdoor assignments involve working in different safe weather conditions throughout the year. Some assignments may also involve stairs and travelling between neighbourhoods.
Your specific work environment and campaign assignment will be discussed during the interview process.
SCHEDULE & AVAILABILITY
We're looking for candidates who can consistently commit to a minimum of 32 hours per week.
You must be available for:
- At least 32 hours of work each week
- Full 8-hour fundraising shifts
- Shifts throughout the week
- At least one weekend day
- Consistent attendance and punctuality
- Completing every scheduled shift from start to finish
Specific shift times depend on your team and fundraising assignment.
We recognize that our team members have interests, responsibilities, and commitments outside work.
We respect those commitments and ask that you bring the same reliability and dedication to your scheduled shifts.
Please apply only if you can consistently meet the minimum weekly hours and weekend availability requirements.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
You don't need previous fundraising experience.
We're looking for people who:
- Enjoy meeting and speaking with new people
- Are comfortable approaching strangers and starting conversations
- Communicate confidently and clearly in English
- Are friendly, outgoing, and approachable
- Can stay positive when facing rejection
- Are reliable, punctual,
and open to feedback
- Enjoy working toward goals
- Are comfortable with physically active work
- Can reliably commute to different GTA fundraising locations
- Are available to start soon
Experience in performing arts, hospitality, retail, customer service, sales, education, childcare, healthcare, volunteering, advocacy, or community outreach is an asset - but not required.
We can teach you fundraising. We're looking for people who bring energy, reliability, and a willingness to learn.
THE REALITY OF FUNDRAISING
This job can be incredibly rewarding, but it isn't always easy.
You'll speak with many different people throughout your day.
Some will be interested in what you have to say.
Others won't stop to talk.
You'll hear "no" regularly, and you'll need to stay positive, reset, and approach the next person with the same energy.
You'll have a supportive team, paid training, and ongoing coaching to help you develop your skills.
Your hourly pay is guaranteed. Your results still matter.
If you enjoy a challenge, like connecting with people, and want to develop skills that can benefit you throughout your career, this could be a excellent fit.
COME AS YOU ARE
We're proud to foster an inclusive, LGBTQIA+ welcoming workplace where people from different backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences feel respected and supported.
Our teams include people with diverse interests, career paths, and personal experiences.
We welcome applications from queer, trans, newcomer, and other underrepresented communities.
We believe individuality is a strength, and we want our team members to feel comfortable bringing their authentic selves to work.
