Our client, an established custom home builder and construction management firm in Ontario, is looking for an experienced Construction Estimator to join its growing team.

Specializing in custom homes, luxury cottages, lakefront properties, and high-quality residential developments, the company delivers distinctive construction projects with a strong focus on craftsmanship, quality, and attention to detail.

This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator who enjoys being involved from the early design stages through pre-construction, working closely with project teams, architects, and subcontractors to bring exceptional residential projects to life.

The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on estimating experience, proficiency in PlanSwift, and a solid understanding of residential construction methods, applicable Ontario building standards, and construction costs.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare accurate cost estimates, budgets, and detailed quantity take-offs for custom homes, luxury cottages, and residential construction projects.
- Review architectural drawings, engineering plans, specifications, and construction documents.
- Develop preliminary and detailed estimates, including Class D through Class A cost plans.
- Use PlanSwift and Excel to calculate material, labour, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Obtain, review, and compare subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- Prepare scopes of work, tender packages, and bid documentation.
- Identify cost risks, scope gaps, discrepancies, and potential construction challenges.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, consultants, and subcontractors throughout pre-construction.
- Recommend cost-effective construction methods and support value engineering.
- Maintain accurate estimating records, pricing databases, and project cost documentation.

Qualifications

- Minimum 5 years of construction estimating experience, ideally in custom homes, luxury residential, cottages, or multi-residential construction.




- Strong knowledge of residential construction methods, Ontario building standards, materials, and trade scopes.
- Hands-on experience with PlanSwift for digital quantity take-offs and estimating.
- Proven ability to independently prepare detailed quantity take-offs, construction budgets, and comprehensive cost estimates.
- Experience reviewing subcontractor quotations, preparing tender packages, and managing pricing comparisons.
- Familiarity with local construction market conditions, labour and material pricing, and subcontractor coordination.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and construction estimating tools.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related qualification is an asset.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without employer sponsorship. Visa or work permit sponsorship is not available for this opportunity.
- Must be comfortable working on-site five days per week.
