Job description:

Qualifications – Saskatchewan Healthcare Facility

- Current registration in good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)
- Minimum 1 year of Operating Room nursing experience
- BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
- Start Date: ASAP
- End Date: 2 months + extension
- Comfortable working in fast-paced rural or regional OR environments
- Accommodations: Provided (shared)
- Travel: Provided
- Hours: Full-time schedule (Overtime applicable)

Responsibilities

Operating Room Registered Nurses must practice within the standards and scope defined by the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS). Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

- Providing comprehensive preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative nursing care
- Ensuring the OR is prepared, sterile, and fully equipped for each procedure
- Assisting surgeons and the multidisciplinary surgical team while maintaining patient safety
- Monitoring patient status closely during surgical procedures and responding to changes promptly
- Anticipating needs during surgery, coordinating with anesthesia, and ensuring smooth workflow
- Completing accurate and detailed perioperative documentation
- Following all infection control protocols, safety regulations, and facility guidelines

Responsibilities may vary slightly by facility and shift, with full orientation provided on site.

Experience

- Minimum 1 year of recent Canadian OR experience (required)
- Familiarity with perioperative EMR systems (asset)
- Ability to adapt quickly to new surgical settings and team dynamics
- Strong clinical judgment and composure in urgent or high-pressure situations

Skills

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Strong organization and time-management abilities
- High attention to detail, particularly regarding sterile technique and documentation
- Compassionate, patient-centered approach with families and individuals undergoing surgery
