We are looking for an entry-level Accountant to join a small, collaborative accounting firm in Toronto, Ontario on a Contract basis. This role will provide hands-on support during a high-volume period, assisting the accounting team with year-end preparation, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance. It is well suited to someone with a solid foundation in accounting who learns quickly, works well in an office workplace, and is ready to contribute across a range of entry-level accounting tasks.

Responsibilities:

- Support senior team members by preparing account reconciliations and organizing financial information for year-end files.
- Record journal entries using bank and credit card activity while helping maintain accurate general ledger balances.
- Code transactions correctly within the accounting system to support complete and reliable financial records.
- Assist with bookkeeping for smaller client files by compiling information from source documents such as bank statements and credit card records.
- Prepare monthly reconciliations and assemble supporting schedules for review by senior accountants.
- Contribute to profit and loss reporting support by helping verify account accuracy and completeness.
- Use QuickBooks Desktop and Excel to process accounting data, update records, and produce working papers as needed.
- Provide internal support to the accounting team by responding promptly to requests and taking on new tasks as priorities shift during busy periods.
- At least 1 year of accounting experience in an entry-level position.
- Practical experience with account coding, journal entries, general ledger support, and reconciliations.




- Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Desktop.
- Proficiency in Excel for reviewing, organizing, and maintaining financial data.
- Understanding of basic financial statements, including profit and loss reporting.
- Ability to learn quickly, adapt to changing priorities, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a dependable work ethic.
- Availability to work onsite in Toronto, Ontario, five days per week during the contract term.
