Service Manager – Industrial Equipment
St. Thomas, ON | Godspeed Group
Love solving problems, working with people, and making things run better?
We’re looking for a Service Manager to join an established industrial equipment manufacturer in St. Thomas, Ontario, through Godspeed Group, a recruitment and staffing agency hiring on behalf of our client.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being close to the action, figuring out solutions, helping customers, and keeping service operations running smoothly. You’ll work directly with the Director of Operations, oversee day-to-day service activities, build strong customer and supplier relationships, and help improve the processes that keep everything moving.
You don’t need to come from the pump industry to succeed here. We’re interested in people who understand equipment, know how to handle customer concerns, and can bring a practical, solutions-first approach to service management.
If you enjoy taking ownership, fixing problems, and leaving things better than you found them, we’d love to hear from you.
What’s in it for you?
We know a great chance is about more than a job title. Here’s what makes this one worth considering:
- Competitive salary: $60,000–$70,000 annually.
- A weekday schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with some flexibility around start and finish times.
- Strong benefits package: Employer-paid dental, prescription drug, vision, and life insurance coverage, following the applicable probation period.
- Pension contributions: Employer contribution of 4%, with a 2% employee contribution.
- Employee stock purchase program: Includes a 10% bonus.
- Profit sharing: An opportunity to participate in company performance.
- Paid vacation: Two weeks during your first year.
- Tools and safety support: PPE, safety shoes, safety glasses, and tools provided.
- A role where your input matters: Work closely with the Director of Operations and contribute ideas that can improve service delivery, customer experience, and internal processes.
Your responsibilities will include:
You’ll be the person helping connect customers, service activities, suppliers, and internal teams. Your focus will be on keeping service issues moving toward practical, timely solutions.
- Leading day-to-day service operations: Coordinate service requests, repair activities, priorities, and follow-ups to ensure issues are handled efficiently.
- Managing customer concerns: Take ownership of escalations, communicate clearly, and work with the right people to resolve problems.
- Supporting repairs and warranty activities: Help coordinate troubleshooting, repair requirements, warranty claims, parts, and follow-through.
- Building strong relationships: Work with customers, vendors, suppliers,
and internal teams to keep service work organized and customers informed.
- Improving service processes: Identify bottlenecks, strengthen procedures, improve documentation, and find better ways to manage recurring issues.
- Supporting technical problem-solving: Use your understanding of mechanical or electrical equipment to help assess issues, ask the right questions, and coordinate next steps.
- Maintaining accurate records: Keep service documentation, reports, customer updates, and related information organized.
- Supporting team performance: Provide direction to the service team, currently including one direct report, and help maintain accountability and consistent service standards.
- Working across the business: Partner with the Director of Operations and other stakeholders to support service delivery and facility operations.
- Occasional local and regional travel: Visit customer sites across Southern Ontario when required to help troubleshoot issues or coordinate service and repairs.
What makes you a good fit?
We’re looking for someone who combines practical problem-solving with strong customer and operational skills.
- Experience in service management, service coordination, aftermarket support, warranty administration, technical customer service, or service operations.
- Experience working with equipment, machinery, mechanical systems, or technical products.
- A practical understanding of how equipment issues are assessed, troubleshot, repaired, or escalated.
- Confidence handling customer complaints and finding solutions without losing sight of the customer relationship.
- Experience coordinating repair work, parts, suppliers, service technicians, or outside service providers.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfort using Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, along with service or business management systems.
- Leadership experience, whether from managing a team, supervising service activities, or taking ownership of day-to-day operations.
- A continuous improvement mindset and the confidence to recommend better ways of doing things.
What backgrounds could translate well?
We welcome applications from people with experience in industrial equipment, manufacturing, HVAC, mechanical service, compressors, generators, valves, pumps,
agricultural equipment, municipal water and wastewater equipment, automotive service, or other equipment-focused industries.
You do not need direct pump experience. Relevant service experience, mechanical aptitude, sound judgment, and a strong customer-first approach are what matter most.
Experience with ISO 9001 or a similar quality management system is an asset, but it is not a requirement.
The kind of person who will thrive here
You take ownership instead of passing problems along. You can speak comfortably with customers, suppliers, technicians, and senior leaders. You stay calm when something goes wrong, communicate honestly, and keep following up until there is a clear next step.
You also understand that great service is not only about resolving today’s issue. It is about learning from it, preventing repeat problems where possible, and making the overall process better.
