LOCAL Industrial Partners is a growing, majority Indigenous-owned industrial services company specializing in demolition and decommissioning, metal recycling, environmental remediation, and industrial project services throughout Western Canada.

Our operations are built around safety, operational efficiency, technical expertise, and delivering practical solutions to our clients.

We are seeking a motivated, technically minded Operations Coordinator to support our West Kootenay operations, including our Genelle Metal Recycling Facility and regional industrial project services.

This position offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience across multiple aspects of industrial operations, including heavy equipment, metal recycling, demolition, project execution, logistics, and business operations.

The successful candidate will work closely with LOCAL's operations and management teams to coordinate day-to-day activities, improve operational processes, and support the continued growth of our business.

THE WEST KOOTENAY LIFESTYLE

Build your career in one of British Columbia's most desirable regions for outdoor recreation and lifestyle.

Located in southeastern British Columbia, the West Kootenay region offers an exceptional combination of outdoor adventure, welcoming communities, and a relaxed mountain lifestyle.

Our Genelle operations are centrally located between Trail and Castlegar, with easy access to the surrounding communities of Rossland and Nelson.

The region is known for its spectacular mountain scenery, four-season recreation, vibrant arts and cultural communities, and excellent local restaurants, breweries, and cafés.

Outdoor Recreation

Whether you're an avid outdoor enthusiast or simply enjoy spending time outside, the West Kootenays offer year-round opportunities, including:

- World-class skiing and snowboarding at RED Mountain Resort near Rossland and Whitewater Ski Resort near Nelson.
- Extensive mountain biking and hiking trail networks throughout Rossland, Nelson, and the surrounding communities.
- Fishing, boating, paddleboarding, and other water activities on the Columbia River and Kootenay Lake.
- Camping, golfing, climbing, and backcountry adventures throughout the region.
- Easy access to lakes, mountains, and wilderness areas without the congestion of larger urban centres.
- Climate & Lifestyle

The West Kootenays enjoy four distinct seasons, with warm summers, relatively mild valley conditions compared with many other Canadian mountain regions, and snowy winters that provide excellent recreational opportunities.

The area offers a more relaxed pace of life, shorter commutes, and access to outdoor activities that are often only minutes from home.

Community, Culture & Dining

Each of the region's communities offers its own character:

- Rossland: A vibrant mountain town known for skiing, mountain biking, outdoor recreation, and a close-knit community.
- Nelson: Renowned for its historic downtown, arts and music scene, independent shops, restaurants, cafés, and cultural events.
- Trail: A welcoming community with a strong industrial heritage, recreational facilities, and convenient access to the surrounding region.
- Castlegar: A centrally located community offering outdoor recreation, convenient transportation connections, and access to the Columbia and Kootenay Rivers.

For someone looking to establish a rewarding career while maintaining an active and balanced lifestyle, the West Kootenays offer an outstanding place to live and work.

Regional Accessibility & Transportation

While the West Kootenays offer the benefits of smaller communities and a relaxed mountain lifestyle, the region remains well connected to larger urban centres throughout British Columbia and Alberta.

LOCAL's Genelle facility is centrally located between Trail and Castlegar, approximately 15 minutes from either community, 30 minutes from Rossland, and 50 minutes from Nelson. Larger regional centres, including Cranbrook (approximately 2.5–3 hours) and Kelowna (approximately 4–4.5 hours), are accessible by highway.

Air Travel & Connectivity

The region is served by two nearby regional airports, with additional flight options available through larger airports in Cranbrook and Kelowna.

- West Kootenay Regional Airport (Castlegar – YCG): Approximately 15–20 minutes from Genelle, offering scheduled service to Vancouver.
- Trail Regional Airport (YZZ): Approximately 20–25 minutes from Genelle, offering scheduled service to Vancouver.
- Canadian Rockies International Airport (Cranbrook – YXC): Approximately 2.5–3 hours away, providing additional connections to major Canadian centres.
- Kelowna International Airport (YLW): Approximately 4–4.5 hours away, offering a broader selection of domestic and international connections.

The combination of regional airports, highway connections, and proximity to larger centres makes the West Kootenays an attractive location for individuals seeking a balance between career opportunities, outdoor recreation, and convenient travel.
