About Upstream IT, Engineering

Upstream IT, Engineering partners with Engineering and Operations teams across Nutrien's Nitrogen, Phosphate, and Potash business units to deliver technology solutions that support safe, efficient, and effective operations.

The team supports a portfolio of custom-developed applications, commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software, reporting solutions, and digital technologies used across Nutrien's operating sites. We work closely with business stakeholders to understand their needs, deliver solutions, support existing applications, and identify opportunities to create value through technology.

As aSolution Analyst, you will serve as a key point of contact between our Engineering and Operations stakeholders and IT. You will build relationships, develop a strong understanding of business and operational needs, and help stakeholders navigate how technology can address their challenges and opportunities.





This role combines robust business analysis and stakeholder engagement skills with practical technical acumen. You do not need to be a developer or solution architect, but you should be comfortable discussing technology, evaluating solution options, and coordinating the right IT teams, vendors, and technical specialists to move work forward.

You will contribute across the full solution lifecycle, from discovery and requirements through delivery, enhancement, and ongoing application sustainment

What You'll Do:

Business Analysis & Stakeholder Partnership

- Build trusted relationships with Engineering and Operations stakeholders and serve as a key point of contact for technology needs and opportunities
- Facilitate discovery workshops and collaborate with stakeholders to understand diverse business needs, operational processes, challenges, and opportunities for improvement
- Elicit, analyze, document, and validate business, functional, and non-functional requirements
- Translate business needs, processes, and objectives into clear, actionable requirements for technical teams and vendors
- Develop process maps, user stories, use cases, business cases,



and other documentation appropriate to the initiative
- Help stakeholders evaluate priorities, understand options, and make informed technology decisions

Solution Delivery & Sustainment

- Work with stakeholders and technical teams to identify practical solution options that align with business needs
- Coordinate with project managers, product owners, developers, architects, vendors, and other IT functions to progress initiatives and resolve issues
- Participate in solution design discussions, providing business context and ensuring proposed solutions address stakeholder requirements
- Support testing, user acceptance, deployment, and transition-to-support activities
- Support a portfolio of applications and solutions, balancing new initiatives, enhancements, sustainment activities, and evolving business priorities
- Help prioritize enhancements, resolve application issues, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement

Solution & Technical Acumen

- Develop a strong understanding of supported applications, their business purpose, users, integrations, and dependencies
- Apply practical technology knowledge to help stakeholders assess solution options and determine when specialized technical expertise is required
- Work effectively with technical specialists to translate business context, coordinate activities, and help drive issues and initiatives through to resolution
- Maintain awareness of technology capabilities and opportunities relevant to the business areas you support
