Join a new Montréal-based team focused on turning emerging AI capabilities into reliable, maintainable product experiences. As part of the Energy Intelligence initiative, you will contribute to a broader effort to develop AI-enabled solutions supporting multiple products, engineering workflows, and lines of business. In this role, you will build and contribute to the application layer around AI models, transforming successful experiments into production-quality software components, services, tools, and reusable capabilities. Working across product development, data, MLOps, architecture, and domain teams, you will integrate AI into existing Digital Energy Software products and help move promising use cases from prototype to maintained product functionality. This role is designed for an experienced software professional who enjoys solving complex problems collaboratively and can balance rapid experimentation with the thoughtful engineering practices required to build secure, testable, observable, and dependable AI-enabled systems. You do not need prior experience in every aspect of our domain. We value robust software engineering foundations, demonstrated experience integrating AI into applications, and the ability to learn and collaborate across disciplines. What you'll be doing

Build production-quality applications and services that integrate AI models into real product experiences. Integrate AI capabilities into existing Digital Energy Software products, developer tools, and engineering workflows. Develop the AI abstraction layer, including model adapters, APIs, routing, policy enforcement, and fallback mechanisms. Create APIs, SDKs, reusable libraries, and reference applications that allow AI capabilities to be adopted across products and teams. Build workflows for script generation, validation, explanation,

conversion, and review, including agentic workflows where relevant. Implement human-in-the-loop experiences that enable appropriate review and oversight of high-impact AI decisions. Design deterministic validation and testing mechanisms to improve the reliability and predictability of probabilistic model outputs. Apply secure engineering practices to the handling of prompts, data, credentials, model responses, tool access, and telemetry. Contribute to automated testing, observability, performance optimization, and the deployment of AI-enabled applications and services. Partner closely with product developers to transform successful prototypes and validated use cases into secure, maintainable product capabilities. What you bring

Professional experience developing reliable, maintainable software applications or services. Proficiency in at least 1 relevant programming language, such as C#, Python, TypeScript, or Java. Experience in areas such as API design, distributed systems, cloud-native development, or automated testing. Experience integrating LLMs or machine-learning models into software applications. The ability to develop prototypes and evolve successful concepts into maintainable, production-quality systems. An understanding of secure software development practices. A collaborative approach, curiosity, and the ability to learn in an evolving technical environment. You might also have

A background in developer tools, compilers, parsers, static analysis, or code transformation. Knowledge of building management systems or industrial automation software. Familiarity with Azure, containers, Kubernetes, or edge applications. Exposure to implementing agentic workflows with controlled access to tools. A background in applied AI, building technologies, or energy management would be an asset. We recognize that skills and competencies can be developed through a variety of experiences, both professional and personal. Even if you don’t meet every single requirement listed, we still encourage you to apply. Your unique background and perspective could be exactly what we’re looking for.
