The New Brunswick Extra-Mural Program (EMP), often known as the “hospital without walls,” has operated under the simple philosophy of helping Current Brunswickers receive the care they need in the places where they are healthiest and happiest - their homes and communities. EMP makes a difference in the lives of those it serves by drastically reducing hospital admissions and greatly increasing patient satisfaction with its level of health care.
As part of EMP, your role is vital in our province's overall health. Join an integrated, multi-disciplinary team of health care professionals, dedicated to providing New Brunswickers with outstanding, highly coordinated primary health care.

The Liaison Nurse also engages patients and caregivers in developing care plans, provides information about EMP services, and assists with short-term equipment needs within program guidelines.
By offering leadership, coordination, and clear communication across care settings, the Liaison Nurse helps ensure patients receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time.
As EMP employees, Hospital Liaison Nurses are accountable to patients, families, and colleagues by actively participating in and supporting safety initiatives, and by fostering a culture of learning. They maintain a consistent focus on safety for patients, caregivers, and the workplace.
