About the Acadia Community Association

At the Acadia Community Association (ACA), we're more than a recreation facility — we're a place where community happens.

As a volunteer-led nonprofit organization in southeast Calgary, we bring people together through recreation, programs, events, and shared experiences. From the rink to community gatherings, our work helps create a vibrant, welcoming neighbourhood where people of all ages can connect.

At the centre of it all is the Acadia Recreation Complex, a busy, multi-use facility that welcomes community members seven days a week.

We're entering an exciting chapter of growth and renewal, with a focus on improving how we operate, strengthening our team, and creating a workplace where people feel valued, supported, and empowered to make a difference.

And we're looking for someone who wants to be part of that journey.

The Opportunity

Do you enjoy keeping things organized, solving problems, and knowing your work makes a difference?

We're looking for a dependable, detail-oriented, and motivated individual to join our accounting team.

This isn't just a job about entering numbers and balancing accounts. It's an opportunity to play an important role behind the scenes of a thriving community organization.

You'll help keep our financial operations running smoothly, support colleagues across different departments, and contribute to the systems and processes that allow our organization to serve the community.

The ideal candidate enjoys working independently, takes pride in getting the details right, and isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves and help wherever needed.

You'll be part of a team that values collaboration, open communication, and a positive workplace culture.

What You'll Be Doing

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include assisting the accounting manager with:

- Keeping our finances organized: Processing vendor invoices, issuing customer invoices, and tracking payments and outstanding accounts using SAGE 50.
- Helping to make sure the numbers add up: Assisting with bank, credit card, and general ledger reconciliations, identifying discrepancies, and helping resolve them.
- Helping our team succeed: Working with other departments to provide financial information and support their reporting needs.
- Keeping things running efficiently: Maintaining accurate, well-organized digital financial records and contributing ideas to improve administrative processes.

What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who brings a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn.

You'll be a great fit if you:

- Have a foundational understanding of accounting or bookkeeping principles.
- Are organized, detail-oriented, and take pride in producing accurate work.
- Are dependable, punctual, and committed to following through on responsibilities.
- Are comfortable taking initiative and working independently while remaining open to direction, collaboration, and feedback.
- Communicate clearly and provide friendly, respectful service to colleagues, customers, and vendors.
- Enjoy problem-solving and finding practical ways to make things work better.

- Have experience using SAGE 50 or QuickBooks.
- Are comfortable working with Google Workspace, including Drive, Docs, and Sheets.
- Are adaptable and comfortable working in a busy, community-focused environment.

Previous experience in administration, reception, recreation, or hospitality would be an asset. Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is eager to contribute, willing to learn, and takes pride in being part of a team.

Why Join the Acadia Community Association?

At ACA, your work has a purpose beyond the day-to-day tasks.

You'll be joining an organization that plays an important role in bringing people together and creating meaningful community experiences.

Here’s what make this opportunity different.

- Meaningful work: Your contributions directly support the programs, facilities, and experiences that make our community stronger.
- A collaborative environment: Work alongside a diverse team of people who care about what they do.
