A unique local Edmonton commercial snow removal company is looking to hire 2 individuals for the upcoming winter season. Depending on work experience, the position offers responsibilities and a pay grade according to the skills of the successful applicant. The Basic requirements of the position involve clearing sidewalks for commercial properties in and around the Edmonton area.

Due to the nature of commercial properties they must be serviced generally speaking in the evenings, overnight and early morning times only. Opportunities for advancement are available which include the operation of heavy equipment including skid steers, wheel loader, sanding trucks and dump trucks if and when it becomes appropriate.

Lighter snow days would include clearing sidewalks for commercial sites with a mini bobcat, sweepers, snow blowers, shovels etc. (Typically an 8 hour shift.)

On larger snow removal days we clear both sidewalks and the parking lot areas of the same commercial properties. (Typically a 12 hour shift.)

We meet at the shop location a the start time which is 5 minutes from Sherwood Park heading east.

Snow Removal Crew Member:

Requirements

· Warm winter gear including safety boots, gloves, jacket, toque etc.

· Basic PPE including reflective clothing and steel toed boots required.

· A positive attitude and a willingness to learn from the crew leader as we work

· Ability to operate sidewalk snow removal equipment such as snow blowers, walk behind sweepers, backpack blowers, shovels, ice scrapers and salt.

· Reliable transportation to shop and being on time is required.

· Drivers license Class 5 (considered an asset) (Class 3 or 1 also highly desirable)

· Basic mechanical knowledge (considered an asset)

Responsibilities

· Using snow removal equipment such as: snow blowers, sweepers, backpack blowers. shovels,



scrapers and salt.

· Taking care of sidewalk equipment to ensure proper operation

· Taking direction from the crew leader to ensure work is completed properly and safely

· Reporting any hazards to the crew leader

· Directing any questions or concerns on site from anyone to the crew leader

Sidewalk events:

7:00 pm until 3 AM (8 +/- hours) - (more frequent)

OR

1-2 AM until 9 AM (8 +/- hours) - (sometimes)

Parking lot events:

7:00 pm until 7:00 am on a large snow fall parking lot nights (12 hours)

While position is considered somewhere between part time and full time, you can expect an average of 25-35 hours per week over a month period. Some weeks more, some weeks less as its weather dependant.

Compensation: $20-$30 per hour, there is also 60 day probationary period. Higher end with more operator / crew leader experience in snow removal, lower end with only labor experience which includes attendance bonus.
