Uptown Rutland Business Association (URBA) is a non-profit business improvement association dedicated to creating a safe, vibrant, and welcoming business district in Uptown Rutland, Kelowna. The Community Ambassador Program (CAP), modelled after Downtown Kelowna’s “Downtown On-Call,” supports local businesses and the community through safety, cleanliness, and engagement initiatives.

Role Overview Reporting to the Executive Director, we are recruiting 1-2 CAP Team Members to join the Community Ambassador Program. (There is an opportunity for a full time and a part time role). Working as a pair to provide frontline support across the Rutland business district, this role focuses on maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment through proactive patrol, incident response, and community engagement.

Ambassadors act as approachable, service-oriented representatives who support businesses, visitors, and vulnerable populations through respectful and compassionate interaction, problem-solving, and coordination with partner agencies. We are looking for team members who are able to work with unhoused individuals to move them from business doorways, street fronts and private property. Team members must bring strong communications skills, both written and verbal, with conflict management skills to de-escalate and resolve issues with a friendly and compassionate, yet firm approach.

Pay $22.00–$24.00/hour (based on experience)

Schedule & Compensation





- Full-time: 40 hours/week (Monday–Friday, early mornings) - 1 position available
- Part time: Provides relief to team due to illness or vacation - 1 position available
- Uniform provided (shirt, jacket and hat).
- Optional access to health benefits plan after 3 month probation period.
