We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Cook to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes, ensuring high-quality food service for children. This role requires a passion for food, attention to allergies/food restritions, and a commitment to maintaining food safety standards. The Cook will work in a fast-paced environment, contributing to the overall childcare experience.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and quality standards
- Assist in food preparation, including chopping, slicing, measuring ingredients and washing dishes
- Ensure proper food handling and storage practices are followed by Peel Public Health standards at all times
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area
- Follow all food safety regulations and sanitation procedures
- Assist in meal planning and portion control
- At times may be supporting staff in the classrooms
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation, working with children and cooking, preferably in a food service setting
- Knowledge of food handling safety standards and sanitation procedures
- Strong understanding of meal preparation techniques and kitchen equipment usage
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication skills and ability to work well within the childcare
- Safety Food Handlers Certificate is a must
