Overview

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Day Porter to join our maintenance team. This role is essential in ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of commercial properties. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, a keen eye for detail, and experience in cleaning and facilities upkeep. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a well-maintained environment while supporting the daily operations of retail, public and commercial facilities.

Duties

- Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and trash removal to maintain cleanliness throughout the facility
- Conduct commercial cleaning duties such as restroom sanitation, floor care, and surface disinfecting
- Reporting issues to management.
- Ensure common areas, hallways, lobbies, and entryways are presentable and free of debris
- Monitor supply levels and restock cleaning supplies as needed
- Maintain safety standards by identifying potential hazards and ensuring proper signage or cleanup procedures are followed
- Support special event setups or cleanups as required
- Collaborate with other team members to uphold high standards of cleanliness and safety
- Assist with stocking cleaning supplies and janitorial equipment.
- Support store operations with general housekeeping tasks as assigned.
- Participate in daily safety and cleanliness inspections.
- Interact courteously and professionally with customers and staff.
- Provide assistance by directing customers to store personnel when needed.




- Maintain a positive and helpful attitude while working in customer-facing areas.
- Empty garbage and recycling bins throughout the store as needed.
- Transport waste and recyclable materials to designated collection areas.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of garbage and compactor areas.
- Follow proper waste disposal and recycling procedures.
- nspect washrooms regularly to ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards are maintained.
- Clean and disinfect toilets, sinks, mirrors, counters, floors, and other fixtures.
- Replenish supplies including toilet paper, paper towels, hand soap, and sanitizer.
- Report maintenance issues such as leaks, plumbing problems, or damaged fixtures.

Qualifications

- Previous experience in cleaning, commercial cleaning, or facilities maintenance is preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and thoroughness in cleaning tasks
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while following established procedures
- Good physical stamina to perform repetitive cleaning tasks and lift light to moderate loads
- Reliable and punctual with a professional attitude
- Knowledge of safe handling and use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Familiarity with workplace health and safety regulations.
- WHMIS certification is considered an asset.

Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour Expected hours: 35.0 – 44.0 per week
