Compass Point is the self-perform company that works hand in hand with ETRO Construction. Our own crews deliver key scopes, which gives us tighter control of cost, schedule, quality and safety, especially on work the subcontractor market often underserves. We’re now scaling that capability across civil, concrete, demolition and carpentry.

This is a rare chance to lead a growing trades business with real ownership of the results. You’ll own the P&L;, shape the strategy, build the team and set the standard for how self-perform work is done, with the backing of ETRO’s leadership and field operations team. Think of it as running your own business, with a parent company behind you.

ABOUT THE ROLE As General Manager, you’ll run Compass Point end to end: profit and loss, projects, people, safety and culture. You’ll report to ETRO’s Director of Field Operations and have full autonomy over day-to-day operations, safety, quality and projects. As the business grows, so does your authority.

You’ll start with a small team and build it: a PM/Estimator, a Project Coordinator, a General Superintendent, Superintendents and a field crew of 20–40 (carpenters, equipment operators, pipe layers and labourers).

A DAY IN THE LIFE

- Run the business: own the P&L;, margins, forecasting and backlog.
- Win the right work: make the bid/no-bid call, negotiate contracts and nurture client relationships.
- Deliver: guide projects from estimate to close-out with strong controls and reporting.
- Lead the field: keep safety, quality and productivity high, and put the right labour and equipment on each job.
- Build the team: hire, mentor and gradually replace ETRO’s shared services with your own departments.
- Grow: expand into Vancouver Island and beyond and set the operating standards and culture as you go.





WHAT YOU BRING

- 10+ years in commercial construction (GC or subcontractor), with hands-on experience in demolition, concrete and civil scopes.
- Proven P&L; ownership and robust financial literacy.
- A solid grasp of estimating and project management fundamentals, and confidence reading drawings and specifications.
- Comfort with ERP, CRM and project software (we use CMiC, Procore and Bluebeam, and you can learn on the job).
- Experience in the Vancouver construction market.
- A trade ticket and/or business education (BCIT, MBA) is a strong asset, and equivalent experience counts too.
