About Camino
Camino is a current wine-focused neighbourhood bistro opening in southwest Edmonton. We’re creating a welcoming restaurant built around thoughtful food and drink, warm hospitality and a close connection with our guests.
We’re looking for a long-term General Manager to lead our team and daily operations. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working the floor, developing people and taking ownership of the guest experience.
Our opening consultant is establishing the systems, service procedures and beverage program. Ideally, you’ll join before opening, participate in the handover and help bring those foundations to life.
The opportunity
Reporting directly to the owner, you’ll lead floor service and manage the operational work that supports it. You’ll collaborate closely with the chef on a rotating feature menu, maintain and develop the wine offering, and help plan wine dinners and special events.
This role offers room to contribute ideas and shape the restaurant as it grows, with opportunities to evolve cocktails and other beverage offerings in collaboration with ownership.
Your responsibilities
Lead service and the team
- Work actively on the floor, supporting table service, beverage preparation and a smooth guest experience.
- Set clear service standards and lead by example.
- Hire, onboard, train and coach the front-of-house team.
- Build schedules,
manage staffing needs and meet agreed labour targets.
- Handle guest concerns with care, sound judgment and timely follow-through.
Manage daily operations
- Oversee opening and closing procedures, cash reconciliation and daily operating routines.
- Manage beverage and front-of-house purchasing, inventory and supplier relationships.
- Maintain an accurate, organized wine list and consistent beverage execution.
- Reinforce responsible alcohol service, food safety and workplace standards.
- Coordinate with the accountant by providing accurate timekeeping and operational information; bookkeeping and payroll processing are handled separately.
Collaborate on food, wine and events
- Work with the chef to communicate rotating features, prepare the service team and coordinate pacing.
- Build the team’s confidence in wine recommendations, pairings and beverage service.
- Plan wine dinners and special events with the owner and chef, coordinating bookings, staffing, preparation and service.
- Contribute ideas for the beverage program and guest experience while keeping operational needs in mind.
What you bring
- At least two years of restaurant management experience, assistant managing would be considered.
- Strong demonstrated wine knowledge and confidence recommending and serving wine.
- A passion for hospitality and a visible, supportive approach to service leadership.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, particularly when working with the kitchen.
- Experience with scheduling, labour management, purchasing, inventory and cash reconciliation.
- Organization, follow-through and the ability to balance floor service with administrative responsibilities.
- Valid ProServe certification and availability for dinner service.
WSET or equivalent wine education is an asset, as are experience coordinating wine dinners or private events, familiarity with Toast POS, and cocktail knowledge. What we offer
- An annual salary of $63,000–$72,000, based on experience.
- Health benefits.
- A planned 40-hour workweek centred on dinner service.
- A transition supported by the opening consultant and established operating systems.
- Direct collaboration with ownership and the chef.
