Overview The Housekeeper reports to the Environmental Services Manager and is responsible for maintaining a clean, secure, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors. This includes cleaning and sanitizing resident rooms, common areas, and furnishings in accordance with established infection prevention and organizational policies. In addition to housekeeping duties, the Housekeeper plays an important role in enhancing residents’ quality of life by supporting a home-like atmosphere.

Responsibilities

- Receives daily assignments, gathers required supplies and equipment, and prepares and transports the service cart to designated work areas.
- Performs routine cleaning and disinfection of resident rooms, common areas, and service spaces using approved products and procedures. Duties include vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, dusting, and cleaning of floors, walls, windows, doors, furniture, and fixtures, as well as waste removal and replenishment of supplies.
- Cleans and disinfects washrooms and high-touch surfaces daily, ensuring infection prevention and control standards are consistently maintained.
- Maintains resident privacy, dignity, and confidentiality at all times while providing service in a respectful and compassionate manner.
- Supports a home-like environment by being courteous, responsive, and mindful of residents’ comfort and preferences during daily routines.
- Prepares and cleans resident rooms for new admissions or transfers in accordance with established procedures.
- Monitors inventory of cleaning supplies and reports shortages or equipment concerns to the Environmental Services Manager.
- Cleans, maintains, and safely stores equipment and returns unused supplies at the end of each shift.
- Identifies potential health and safety risks and takes appropriate action to reduce hazards and promote a safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or outlined in the Job Task Inventory.

Employment Requirements

- A current Vulnerable Sector Check, including a Criminal Background Check (within the past six months), or willingness to obtain one
- Proof of tuberculosis screening in accordance with Public Health requirements (within the past six months), or a chest X-ray within the past year
- Two supervisory references
- Proof of required immunizations. The Employer strongly recommends remaining up to date with all recommended vaccines. Vaccination requirements may be subject to change in accordance with organizational and public health guidelines
