Toronto
Contemporary Computers is a boutique managed IT services company supporting over 100 businesses across the Greater Toronto Area.
We need additional IT security specialists to help protect our client base and internal setting. You’ll identify risks, recommend fixes, and implement them, working alongside our technical team. We’re looking for someone with solid hands-on security experience who takes initiative without needing direction.
How the role is structured:
The role begins with a mandatory 2-month in-person training period at our office at 276 Carlaw Ave. in Toronto’s east end. After training, it can move to a hybrid schedule with 1 day remote per week. Occasional onsite client visits across the GTA may be required.
What You’ll Be Working On:
- Auditing security tool coverage so every client, user, and device is protected by EDR, email filtering, and security awareness training
- Responding to EDR, identity, and SIEM alerts, including compromised accounts and malware
- Investigating phishing and spoofing reports and managing email security
- Hardening Microsoft 365 environments and remediating vulnerabilities across managed clients
- Conducting security audits and completing compliance documentation, including cybersecurity checklists, client questionnaires, and Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and Joint Certification Program (JCP) applications
What We’re Looking For:
- 2+ years of IT experience, including at least 1 year in IT security
- Must be able to pass an initial background check, and hold or be able to obtain a Controlled Goods Program (CGP) security assessment; CGP Designated Official certification is a plus
- Thorough with documentation, compliance forms, and audit paperwork
- Highly detail-oriented and vigilant: you notice what’s missing,
not just what’s broken
- Self-starter who takes ownership and communicates clearly with both technical staff and non-technical clients
- Able to commute to our east-end Toronto office 4 days per week (5 during training)
Technical Requirements:
- Microsoft 365 and Entra ID security (MFA, Conditional Access, identity management)
- EDR/ITDR tools and incident response (e.g. Huntress, Microsoft Defender, SentinelOne)
- Email security (quarantine, filtering, SPF/DKIM/DMARC)
- Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, firewalls, VPNs)
Bonus Skills:
- MSP experience
- Government of Canada security clearance
- Experience with Huntress, TitanHQ, or Wazuh
- Security certifications (Security+, CySA+, SC-200, SC-300, or similar)
- Experience with security frameworks or defence-sector compliance (NIST, CIS, CPCSC/CMMC)
- French
