Lead Hand / Foreman – Civil Construction

Position: Full-Time, Permanent – Year-Round Employment

Maurice Yelle Excavation Ltd. is a family-owned and operated company with over 60 years of experience serving Ottawa and the surrounding areas. We are looking for an experienced, motivated Lead Hand / Foreman to oversee crews and coordinate daily civil construction projects.

Responsibilities

- Supervise and coordinate crews on watermain, water and sewer, and underground utility projects.
- Oversee asphalt repairs, concrete work, curbs, sidewalks, and related restoration.
- Organize daily work activities, assign tasks, and ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently.
- Coordinate equipment, materials, and labour to keep projects on schedule.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Ensure work meets quality standards and project requirements.
- Enforce company health and safety policies and maintain a safe jobsite.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, operators, subcontractors, and customers.
- Identify and resolve jobsite issues as they arise.

Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Lead Hand, Foreman, or experienced construction worker in civil construction.
- Strong working knowledge of water and sewer installation,



asphalt, and concrete work.
- Ability to lead a crew, organize work, and take responsibility for jobsite activities.
- Knowledge of construction drawings, grades, and elevations is an asset.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to safety.
- Ability to work outdoors and adapt to changing jobsite conditions.
