Fire & Rice is a growing food truck serving bold, Asian-inspired comfort food, including crispy chicken, bulgogi, rice bowls and loaded fries. We operate at food truck services, private events and multi-day music festivals.
We're looking for a reliable, hardworking line cook to join our team for the upcoming season.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook food according to Fire & Rice recipes and quality standards.
- Operate fryers and other kitchen equipment safely.
- Prepare ingredients, sauces and toppings for service.
- Assemble orders accurately, consistently and efficiently.
- Maintain food quality, portion control and presentation during busy service.
- Keep kitchen stations clean, organized and stocked.
- Follow food safety, temperature-control and sanitation procedures.
- Assist with loading, unloading, event setup and breakdown.
- Help with inventory, restocking and end-of-shift cleaning.
- Work collaboratively with the owner and other team members during high-volume service.
Requirements
- Previous kitchen or line-cook experience is preferred; willingness to learn is essential.
- Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
- Able to work efficiently in a rapid-paced environment.
- Comfortable standing for extended periods and lifting supplies as required.
- Positive attitude and ability to work well under pressure.
- Available for evenings, weekends and occasional multi-day festivals.
- FoodSafe certification is an asset.
Schedule and working conditions This is a seasonal, event-based position. Hours will vary depending on our event schedule, with some busy weeks offering substantial hours and other weeks having limited or no shifts.
Applicants must be comfortable with a flexible schedule and occasional long festival days. Some events may require travel and overnight stays.
Compensation
$20 per hour, depending on experience and responsibilities.
