Job Purpose: We are seeking a hardworking and motivated Maintenance Helper with robust welding experience to join our maintenance team in Arnold's Cove, NL. In this role, you will work alongside our Red Seal Millwrights and apprentices, assisting with routine plant maintenance, equipment repairs, and facility upkeep. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for welding and mechanical work to gain valuable experience in a modern seafood processing facility.

Key Responsibilities:

- Welding & Fabrication: Perform minor structural modifications, equipment repairs, and fabrications using MIG, TIG, or ARC welding, working primarily with stainless steel.
- Mechanical Assistance: Assist Millwrights with troubleshooting, dismantling, repairing, and reassembling processing equipment (including Marel and Baader machinery lines).
- Preventive Maintenance Support: Help perform basic preventive maintenance (PM) routines, such as lubricating machinery, checking fluid levels, and replacing belts or rollers.
- Shop & Tool Upkeep: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance shop. Ensure tools are properly stored and safety equipment is functional.
- Facility Maintenance: Complete basic facility repairs, plumbing adjustments, or minor structural tasks as needed across the plant.
- Safety Compliance:



Strictly follow all company safety policies, including lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures and food safety (HACCP) regulations.

Qualifications & Skills:

- Welding Skillset: Proven experience with welding (MIG, TIG, or ARC). Experience welding stainless steel or food-grade equipment is a significant asset. A welding certificate or trade school background is preferred but not mandatory if practical experience is strong.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and basic shop equipment.
- Environment Fit: Prior experience working in a seafood processing plant, manufacturing environment, or industrial setting is highly preferred.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work comfortably in varying temperatures (wet processing environments and cold storage).
- Attributes: Strong work ethic, reliability, willingness to learn, and a commitment to working safely in a team workplace.
