Store Manager, Encore

Every garment and good in our store has been loved before and carries a history. Every purchase helps fund free end-of-life care and grief support at Hospice Halifax.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Store Manager leads Encore’s daily operations, staff and volunteers, and business growth. This role combines strong retail leadership with a commitment to community impact, ensuring an exceptional customer experience and sustainable revenue to support Hospice Halifax.

What You’ll Do

- Lead, coach, and inspire a team of staff and volunteers.
- Oversee store operations, inventory, merchandising, and customer service.
- Develop strategies to increase sales, profitability, and community engagement.
- Manage budgets, financial performance, and operational standards.
- Build positive relationships with customers, donors, and community partners.
- Promote Encore and Hospice Halifax's mission, values, and community impact.

What You Bring

- Experience in retail or thrift store management.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
- Proven ability to drive sales, manage budgets, and achieve business results.
- Experience with inventory management, point-of-sale systems, and digital tools, including social media platforms
- A collaborative,



customer-focused approach and strong organizational skills.
- A commitment to inclusion, community, and Hospice Halifax's mission.
- Tact and discretion in dealing with and handling confidential information.
- A valid Class 5 driver's licence
- Ability to provide a clear Criminal Record Check.

Experience in the non-profit sector is an asset. The role involves physical retail duties, including standing, moving merchandise, and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. Reasonable accommodations are available.
