Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing 2D technical drawings, 3D CAD models, and fabrication-ready designs for custom sheet metal components and assemblies. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes and the ability to translate customer requirements into accurate, practical, and cost-effective manufacturing solutions.

Responsibilities and Duties

- Prepare quotes and estimate costs for custom sheet metal fabrication projects.
- Create 2D drawings and 3D sheet metal designs using SolidWorks.
- Prepare shop drawings, DXF files, and flat patterns for production.
- Review customer drawings and specifications to determine material and manufacturing requirements.
- Design sheet metal parts for laser cutting, bending, and fabrication.
- Calculate material requirements and support cost estimation.
- Coordinate with production staff to ensure designs are accurate and manufacturable. Revise drawings and quotes based on customer requirements.

Qualifications and Skills

- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience preparing quotes and estimating costs for sheet metal fabrication projects.




- Proficiency in SolidWorks for sheet metal design and 2D technical drawings.
- Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, including laser cutting, bending, and welding.
- Ability to read customer drawings and prepare production-ready designs.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience quoting custom sheet metal parts and assemblies.
- Experience creating flat patterns, DXF files, and shop drawings in SolidWorks.
- Knowledge of material selection, sheet thickness, bend allowances, and fabrication costs.
- Experience working directly with production teams in a metal fabrication shop.
