About the role
As an NDT Technician, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring gas turbine components meet the required safety, quality and serviceability standards. You’ll carry out non-destructive testing and detailed inspection of GE LM2500 gas turbine components, accurately identify and document defects, and help ensure parts are ready for the next stage of the overhaul process without avoidable rework or delays.
You do not need previous gas turbine experience. We are looking for an experienced NDT technician with strong practical judgement, attention to detail and an interest in learning about turbine components and overhaul processes. For someone who wants to broaden their skills, there will be an opportunity to train alongside our experienced technicians and progressively become involved in the disassembly, inspection, repair and reassembly of LM2500 gas turbines.
What you'll do
- Perform NDT inspections of gas turbine components, primarily using Liquid Penetrant Testing and Magnetic Particle Testing
- Prepare and clean components before inspection
- Interpret test results and identify relevant indications, defects and areas requiring further assessment
- Accurately record inspection results for quality, technical review and traceability
- Complete inspection reports and supporting quality documentation
- Identify and escalate issues that may affect component quality, safety or workflow
- Maintain high standards of safety, housekeeping and workmanship
- Contribute to improvements in inspection processes and front-end overhaul workflow
- Undertake training in gas turbine disassembly, inspection, repair and reassembly
What we're looking for
- Practical experience performing NDT in an industrial, manufacturing, maintenance, aviation, oil & gas,
power generation or mechanical overhaul workplace
- A sound understanding of NDT processes, acceptance criteria and inspection reporting
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to follow technical procedures, solve problems and work safely in a regulated environment
- Reliable, organised and able to work effectively as part of a small, committed team
- Positive attitude, willingness to learn and commitment to continuous improvement
Experience & Qualifications You should meet most, but not necessarily all, of the following:
- CGSB Level 2 Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT2) certification and/or Magnetic Particle Testing
- Experience using Ultrasonic Testing or Radiographic Testing would be an advantage
- Hands-on experience inspecting mechanical components, rotating equipment, valves, turbines, engines or similar equipment.
- Experience preparing inspection reports, recording test results and documenting non-conformances
- A mechanical, engineering, quality or inspection qualification would be an advantage
