We are currently looking to hire an Operations Manager reporting to the Regional Operations Manager. This position is responsible for the efficient operation of a high-volume dock within the Toronto terminal, with a strong emphasis on candidates who have previous dock leadership experience.
Responsibilities
- Leads and inspires the dock team to achieve operational goals and KPIs
- Promotes and fosters a strong Employee Health and Safety culture
- Ensures HUB sort operations operate on time maintaining network schedule
- Processes all inbound freight handled by city P&D; drivers in a timely basis
- Maintains appropriate staffing/equipment levels that are aligned with volumes and budget
- Ensures that the team reaches Weights and Inspection goals
- Provides daily accurate reporting of KPIs and activities
- Monitors and checks dock processes frequently to ensure quality and compliance
- Delivers strong effective communication to all members of the team
- Mentors, coaches and develops their team for success
- Coordinates building and yard maintenance
- Collaborates with other departments in the spirit of continuous improvement
- Complies with all Corporate policies and procedures
Qualifications :
- Minimum of 5-7 years of transportation and management experience; College or University Degree preferred
- LTL/Cross dock experience preffered
- Managing in a union workplace an asset
- Possesses strong Team building skills. Is present and engaged with all teams and shifts
- Demonstrates the ability to adapt well to change
- Excellent practical approach to problem solving
- Customer service oriented
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Possesses exceptional personal integrity and strong values
- Has the courage and conviction to do “the right thing”
