Duties
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing teeth to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and the importance of preventive care.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) while adhering to safety protocols.
- Assist the dentist during examinations, procedures, and treatments as needed.
- Maintain accurate patient records using dental practice management software such as Dentrix.
- Provide support for orthodontic patients by assisting with appliance instructions and adjustments.
- Communicate effectively with patients, including bilingual individuals, to ensure understanding of treatment plans and oral health instructions.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations within the dental office environment.
Experience
- Valid licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state or regional regulations.
- Prior experience working in a dental office setting is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of dental software systems such as Dentrix is advantageous.
- Experience providing dental care to pediatric patients is desirable.
- Familiarity with orthodontic procedures and appliances enhances patient support capabilities.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to connect with diverse patient populations.
- Basic understanding of medical terminology related to dentistry and oral health practices.
