Nani’s Gelato is seeking a passionate and dynamic Shift Lead. We’re looking for an outgoing leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, excels at building relationships with customers and team members, and shares our passion for artisan gelato.

This is a permanent, part time role (approximately 20-30 hours per week, including every weekend). You’ll work closely with the owner to run the store and lead our team. It’s ideal for someone with supervisory experience who wants to grow into store management.

Responsibilities

- Manage daily store operations for a smooth workflow
- Lead the team on shift and be the go-to person for staff questions and issues
- Train and onboard new team members, and help with interviews and trial shifts
- Manage opening and closing procedures, including the end-of-day checklist
- Track inventory for Sysco orders
- Cover call-outs
- Support back-of-house prep and cleaning, including the soft serve machine cleaning and bi-weekly flavour changeover
- Conduct staff coaching and store audits
- Scoop gelato and prepare milkshakes, cookie sandwiches and other menu items




- Address customer inquiries and resolve issues quickly and professionally
- Maintain store cleanliness for a welcoming atmosphere

Requirements

- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or key-holder experience, preferably in food or hospitality
- Experience opening and closing a store independently
- Food Handler’s Certification (preferred; we reimburse the course)
- Strong ability to train, mentor and onboard team members
- Strong communication skills with customers and team members
- Organized and detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills for operational and customer issues
- Available to work weekdays and weekends
