About Bornea Dynamics

Bornea Dynamics Limited is a Canadian technology development company specializing in advanced sensing, communications, defence, aerospace, robotics, artificial intelligence, and space systems. We develop innovative technologies ranging from RF sensing and electronic warfare systems to autonomous platforms, embedded electronics, and satellite payloads.

As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a Digital Signal Processing (DSP) & Software-Defined Radio (SDR) Engineer to join our engineering team in Beamsville, Ontario. This position is primarily focused on software development, digital signal processing algorithms, and the implementation of advanced SDR-based sensing and communications technologies.

The Role The DSP & SDR Engineer will be responsible for developing, implementing, optimizing, and testing software and signal processing algorithms for radio frequency sensing, communications, and spectrum-monitoring applications.

The successful candidate will work with software-defined radios, embedded computing platforms, and FPGA-based systems to develop capabilities for signal detection, acquisition, analysis, classification, and processing.

This is a hands-on software and algorithm development position requiring a strong foundation in digital signal processing, proficiency in programming, and an understanding of RF and communications fundamentals.

Projects may involve RF detection and classification, electronic warfare, communications systems, spectrum monitoring, satellite payloads, and machine learning applied to RF signals.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, implement, and test digital signal processing algorithms for RF sensing and communications applications.
- Develop software for SDR platforms using Python, C/C++, GNU Radio, and other relevant development environments.
- Implement signal detection, acquisition, synchronization, filtering, demodulation, and classification algorithms.
- Develop techniques for spectral analysis, signal characterization, interference detection, and spectrum monitoring.
- Process complex in-phase and quadrature (IQ) data for real-time and offline signal analysis.
- Develop and optimize signal processing pipelines for real-time execution on embedded processors and SDR platforms.
- Implement and evaluate digital modulation, coding, and communications signal processing techniques.
- Develop software interfaces for SDR hardware, embedded computing platforms, and FPGA-based processing systems.
- Conduct algorithm development, modelling, and simulation using Python, MATLAB,

Simulink, or equivalent tools.
- Develop automated test scripts, signal processing test harnesses, and performance evaluation tools.
- Evaluate algorithm performance under varying signal-to-noise ratios, interference conditions, and operating environments.
- Collaborate with FPGA engineers to transition computationally intensive signal processing functions into hardware acceleration where appropriate.
- Collaborate with machine learning engineers on RF signal classification, feature extraction, and intelligent spectrum analysis.
- Integrate and test developed software with SDR hardware in laboratory and field environments.
- Contribute to technical documentation, design reviews, customer demonstrations, and engineering reports.

Essential Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of digital signal processing fundamentals, including sampling theory, digital filtering, Fourier transforms, spectral analysis, and frequency-domain processing.
