Temporary Weekend Pediatric Care Aide

Private In-Home Position Location: NW Calgary | $24–$25/hour + 6% vacation pay Schedule: Saturdays, and Sundays, 7:30 AM – 6:30 PM

About the Role: We are looking for a temporary aide to join our team, while one of Grace's aides is away for six weeks. The dates are Dec 5-6, Dec 12-13, Dec 19-20, Jan 2-3, Jan 9-10 and possibly Dec 26-27. Although this is a temporary role now, there could be opportunity for more hours, and for a more permanent weekend position.

We’re looking for a reliable, compassionate, and hands-on care aide to join our team in supporting Grace, a vibrant 5-year-old girl with complex medical needs — in our family home. Grace sustained a severe brain injury following bacterial meningitis at age two. She is blind, non-ambulatory, cognitively disabled, and deaf in one ear. She requires full support with daily living, but responds beautifully to loving attention, music, and sensory play.

Our home is warm, busy, and family-oriented, you’ll often be around Grace’s siblings (who are school-aged and very used to her care routines) and our friendly, hypoallergenic dog. You won’t be responsible for the other children, but comfort in a lively home is important.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide complete support with activities of daily living: diapering, dressing, repositioning, oral care, and administering medications (oral + g-tube)

Monitor fluid intake and outputs; assist with feeding (oral and g-tube)

Engage Grace in meaningful play: singing, music, sensory-based activities, movement, and routines

Participate in light therapy tasks (e.g. visual stimulation,



sensory input, stretching and PT/OT carryover)

Maintain a clean and safe care space — including cleaning up after feeds and Grace’s personal items

Work alongside a parent or other caregiver, with periods of independent caregiving

Occasionally accompany Grace to outings or appointments (if needed)

What We’re Looking For:

Experience working with children with disabilities, complex care needs, or medical fragility is preferred (but we’re happy to train the right person)

Physically able to lift and reposition a non-mobile child

Emotionally mature, calm, and adaptable in a energetic home environment

Comfortable working in a home with other children and a dog present

Current Infant/Child First Aid & CPR (or willing to obtain)

Clear criminal record check

Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle (mileage covered when used for Grace)
