We are seeking a highly accomplished Senior Development Specialist for an enterprise-level contract opportunity based in Toronto. In this role, you will take on a premier full-stack web application development, front-end architecture, and system integration capacity, specializing in building responsive, accessible, and secure web applications.

As a Senior Development Specialist, you will bridge the gap between complex system architectures, RESTful web services, responsive user interfaces, and backend enterprise integrations. Operating within a flexible hybrid work model in Toronto, you will lead the end-to-end design, development, and maintenance of single-page applications using modern JavaScript frameworks, web components, and secure API integrations. This position demands a technical software authority with extensive tenure in front-end development, API engineering, root-cause troubleshooting, and digital accessibility compliance (WCAG 2.1 AA / AODA) who can deliver high-quality, customer-facing digital solutions.

Responsibilities





Provide senior-level technical expertise and architectural guidance across all phases of the software development life cycle, including design, coding, testing, and sustainment.

Design, build, upgrade, and maintain secure, responsive front-end single-page applications and supporting component libraries.

Architect and implement RESTful API integrations (JSON/XML), authentication services, and secure data exchange mechanisms with core enterprise systems.

Develop intuitive, accessible user interfaces that enable authenticated users to request, view, and interact with aggregated data.

Author comprehensive technical specifications, system architecture diagrams, interface designs, component specs, and integration documentation.

Conduct root-cause analysis during unexpected outages and provide rapid troubleshooting, debugging, and production support.

Ensure all user interfaces and digital components strictly comply with WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines, AODA requirements, and municipal digital standards across web, iOS, and Android platforms.

Partner with cross-functional development teams, solution architects, and project managers to plan, estimate, and deliver work packages.

Support application deployment activities across development, testing, staging, and production environments.

Deliver technical walkthroughs, knowledge transfer sessions,



and operational documentation to steady-state support teams.

Core Technical & Software Engineering Requirements

Education: Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).

Front-End Development Experience: Minimum 10+ years of extensive experience developing Single Page Applications using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, Bootstrap, and frameworks such as React, Backbone, or Stencil.js (Web Components).

API & System Integration: Extensive experience integrating web applications with backend platforms via RESTful APIs (JSON and XML), secure authentication services, and data transfer protocols.

Accessibility Standards: Demonstrated expertise developing digital products compliant with WCAG 2.x AA, AODA, and WAI-ARIA standards, optimizing accessibility across web and mobile platforms.

Architecture & Documentation: Proven experience working independently to build and maintain architecture diagrams, technical design specifications, risk assessments, and integration documentation.

Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Solid experience conducting root-cause analysis, debugging complex multi-tier applications, and providing production support during outages.

Preferred Assets & Domain Experience

Secure Enterprise Solutions: Experience developing secure, customer-facing web applications within a public-sector or highly regulated enterprise environment.
