AI Engineer, Agentic Systems (Intern / New Grad)
Applied AI / LLM Systems / Financial Intelligence Canada Remote Internship or Full-Time (Early-Career) CAD 90,000 - 150,000
Recent graduates are welcome.
About the role
This is not a passive support role. You will work on product-facing AI problems across agentic systems, NLP, financial intelligence, intelligent automation, and applied machine learning. We want someone who does not just study models, but knows how to turn ideas into systems that are useful, reliable, and differentiated.
We are especially interested in candidates who have already built things in practice through startup work, research implementation, open-source contributions, independent projects, or deployed products.
What you'll do
- Design and build agentic AI systems for financial analysis, research workflows, and trading-related intelligence
- Develop production-oriented AI pipelines involving reasoning, tool use, orchestration, retrieval, summarization, extraction, and decision support
- Build and improve NLP systems for financial text understanding, sentiment analysis, summarization, classification, and structured information extraction
- Work with both structured and unstructured data, including market data, news, financial documents, and research content
- Prototype quickly, evaluate rigorously, and iterate toward systems that create real product value
- Collaborate closely with engineering and product teams to integrate AI capabilities into live user-facing workflows
- Improve model and system performance across accuracy, latency, reliability, scalability, and efficiency
- Explore frontier ideas in LLMs, agents, neural networks, retrieval, and intelligent automation,
and help turn them into practical product advantages
What we're looking for
- Currently completing, or recently completed, a Master's degree or higher in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related field
- Strong foundation in machine learning, neural networks, NLP, and pattern recognition
- Strong programming ability in Python
- Solid software engineering fundamentals and the ability to write clean, maintainable, production-minded code
- Hands-on experience building AI systems beyond academic coursework
- Experience with LLM applications, agentic workflows, AI agents, retrieval systems, tool-calling systems, or intelligent automation
- Solid problem-solving ability and comfort working in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
- Ability to independently build, test, and ship meaningful technical work
Strong signals
- Shipped AI features, prototypes, or products with real users
- Built agentic systems or multi-step LLM workflows
- Contributed to meaningful open-source projects
- Maintained strong GitHub repositories with clear technical depth
- Built end-to-end personal or research projects with measurable outcomes
- Experience with PyTorch, Hugging Face, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or similar tools
- Familiarity with backend integration, APIs, cloud deployment, or production pipelines
- Exposure to fintech, market data, financial documents, trading systems, or research workflows
Who this role is for
- Work on ambitious AI problems with direct product impact
- Build at the frontier of agentic AI and applied intelligence systems
- Operate in a team that values innovation, speed, technical depth, and execution
- Own meaningful work early and help shape systems, not just tasks
