Apply here: https://loraverse.io/careers/contract-screenwriter About Loraverse Loraverse is a Toronto-based filmmaking technology company building tools for AI-assisted cinematic production. Founded by filmmakers Sonya Moorjani and Sahil Lulla, and part of the DMZ at Toronto Metropolitan University, we're developing technology that keeps characters, worlds and visual styles consistent across shots. Now we want to make original work with what we've built. That starts with a writer. The role We're looking for a writer with a strong voice, an instinct for character and a talent for turning ideas into compelling scripts. You might pitch an animated comedy, a microdrama, a fictional news segment, a sketch series, a commercial, a branded short, a UGC-style format or something we haven't considered. We're starting with 1–2 minute productions, but longer-form concepts are welcome. We're interested in standalone stories as well as repeatable formats that could develop into shows, series or larger creative properties. This is a writing job, not a prompting job. We care about the craft of writing: original ideas, strong characters, dialogue, pacing and storytelling. You write as a writer would. Our production team brings your work to screen using Loraverse's production pipeline. We're looking for someone who takes storytelling seriously, regardless of the tools used to produce the finished picture.

What you'll do
• Pitch: Develop two or three original concepts. We'll select one to pursue together.
• Develop: Establish the story, characters, tone and format. For recurring concepts, create a short story or series bible.
• Write: Take the selected concept from outline to script, including revisions.
• Collaborate: Work with the founding team on story and visual direction,

and provide creative notes during production.
• Expand: Explore further episodes, formats or new concepts through additional commissions. Who we're looking for
• A writer with a solid sample of their work. Screenplays, pilots, sketches, animation, commercials and other scripted formats are welcome.
• Someone who understands character, structure, dialogue and the importance of a good premise.
• Comfortable writing concise, engaging stories that make every second count.
• Able to develop original ideas independently and respond thoughtfully to creative feedback.
• Curious about emerging filmmaking technology, without needing to use AI tools themselves. Emerging writers are encouraged to apply. We believe technology should expand what writers and filmmakers can create, not diminish the value of their work. Your existing writing samples and uncommissioned concepts remain yours. Rights to selected, commissioned material will be agreed upon before work begins, including authorship credits and any future commercial uses. We do not use submitted writing samples or commissioned scripts to train generative AI models. Commissioned material may be used in approved AI-assisted production workflows to bring the agreed work to screen. We value original human storytelling and recognize writers as creative contributors, not simply providers of material.

How to apply
Submit through [Loraverse Careers]:
• A short introduction about yourself and what you love to write.
• One writing sample: a short script, pilot, commercial script, or up to 15 pages from a longer work.
• Optionally, one or two loglines for ideas you'd be interested in exploring with Loraverse. We don't require applicants to develop original scripts or complete unpaid writing assignments as part of the application.
