Role Overview

The Software Developer is responsible for translating technical system specifications into working, tested applications. The role includes developing detailed programming specifications, writing and/or generating code, compiling data-driven programs, maintaining applications, and conducting unit testing.

The successful candidate will resolve and troubleshoot technical problems arising during the use and operation of software packages and provide technical assistance with implementation, conversion, and migration activities.

This is an onsite position, five days per week, during standard working hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, excluding lunch breaks.

Key Responsibilities

- Translate technical system specifications into working, tested applications.

- Develop detailed programming specifications.

- Write and/or generate code and compile data-driven programs.

- Maintain applications and conduct unit testing.

- Resolve and troubleshoot technical problems arising during the use and operation of software packages.

- Provide technical assistance during implementation, conversion, and migration activities.

- Experience in programming and analysis and specialized software package support at the specified experience level.

- Experience with structured methodologies for the development, design, implementation, and maintenance of applications.

and troubleshooting.

Desirable Skills

- Knowledge and experience developing internet-ready applications.

- Knowledge and experience with Rapid Application Development (RAD) methodologies.

- Knowledge and understanding of Information Management principles, concepts, policies, and practices.

- Experience with middleware and gateways.

- Experience reviewing, analyzing, and modifying product installation scripts, including encoding, testing, and debugging.

- Ability to provide post-implementation support and resolve post-implementation technical issues.

- Experience conducting design walkthrough sessions with project teams.

- Knowledge and understanding of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), related regulations, and standards.

- Ability to provide user and system documentation as required.

Additional Oracle Software Development Skills

- Experience conducting impact assessments on Oracle E-Business application customizations and extensions.

- Strong conversion experience in Accounts Receivable and Collections modules.

- Strong programming skills with Oracle Database, PL/SQL, SQL, XML, Unix shell scripts, and Oracle Data Integrator.

- Proven business knowledge of General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Collections, Accounts Payable, and Inventory modules within Oracle E-Business.
