About the Role

Do you like building new systems more than fixing old ones? SMR Plumbing & Heating is looking for an experienced HVAC Site Lead to run our residential new construction and custom home projects from rough-in to finish.

You’ll own the job site, handle the layout and lead an apprentice to deliver clean, high-end installs. This is a quick-paced, hands-on construction role, not a residential service or repair position.

What You’ll Do

- Run the project: Lead custom home and new build HVAC projects from rough-in (ducting, venting, equipment positioning) through final finishing and trim-out.
- Lead an apprentice: Mentor, direct and work alongside an apprentice, handing out tasks so projects stay on schedule and in scope.
- Own the layout: Read architectural blueprints, structural drawings and mechanical schematics, and lay out ductwork and systems on your own.
- Coordinate the site: Manage on-site logistics, track material needs early, and work smoothly with builders, general contractors and other trades (plumbing, electrical).
- Deliver quality and code compliance: Make sure duct design, airflow calculations and equipment installs meet municipal building codes and our high-end quality standards.

What You Bring

- Proven residential construction experience, specifically HVAC rough-ins and finishes on custom homes or new builds
- A track record of running a residential job site on your own and directing an apprentice or helper
- Strong hands-on sheet metal skills: layout, custom duct fabrication and installation




- Advanced blueprint reading, with the ability to spot architectural conflicts before they become problems
- A valid driver’s licence and clean driving record (required for travel between job sites)

Nice to Have

- Refrigeration experience in new builds: laying out, piping and installing line sets for heat pumps, multi-zone ductless mini-splits and central A/C
- A trade credential (Sheet Metal Worker or Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic, Red Seal or equivalent), or active registration in an apprenticeship program. Hands-on skill and field leadership matter most.

Pay: $28.00-$35.00 per hour
