Strength & Conditioning Coach – Full-Time
Denman Athletics | West End, Vancouver, BC
We're Hiring an Experienced Strength & Conditioning Coach
Denman Athletics is looking for an experienced Strength & Conditioning Coach with a strong background in coaching strength training in a group environment to join our team in Vancouver's West End.
Our coaching model combines the individual attention of personal training with the energy and accountability of small-group sessions, working with a maximum of six members per coach.
We're specifically looking for someone who:
- Has a minimum of 3 years of hands-on coaching experience, including coaching strength training in groups.
- Is highly confident coaching barbell and dumbbell exercises, with excellent technical knowledge and movement competency.
- Can effectively cue, correct technique and adapt exercises while coaching multiple individuals simultaneously.
- Has experience delivering structured strength training to adults with varying abilities and goals.
- Is an experienced, confident coach who can contribute from day one while learning our coaching model.
- Is looking for a full-time, long-term coaching career and is available for early mornings, evenings and occasional weekends.
Experience coaching in strength and conditioning facilities or other structured group strength-training environments is particularly relevant.
This position requires previous practical group strength-coaching experience. Candidates whose experience is exclusively one-to-one personal training may not have the background required for this role.
About Denman Athletics
At Denman Athletics, we believe great coaching makes a difference.
We're a coaching-first strength and conditioning facility in Vancouver's West End, helping busy adults become stronger, fitter and healthier through structured, consistent training.
Our members come to us because they value their time, want to train effectively and appreciate the guidance and accountability that comes with being coached.
We take pride in delivering high-quality coaching, building genuine relationships and creating an environment where people of different ages and abilities can train confidently and make meaningful progress.
We're looking for someone who shares those standards and wants to become an integral part of our coaching team.
The Opportunity
As a Full-Time Strength & Conditioning Coach, your primary responsibility will be delivering exceptional coaching to our members.
You'll work within our established strength programming framework, individualising each member's training through appropriate exercise selection, loading, technique, range of motion and progressions.
We're looking for a coach who can confidently manage a group, recognise when someone needs additional attention and make effective coaching decisions in real time.
Outside of coaching hours, you'll also contribute to member experience, retention, consultations, team development and the continued growth of Denman Athletics.
This is a full time career opportunity for someone who wants to be part of a committed coaching team, rather than simply delivering a handful of sessions each week.
Coaching ResponsibilitiesStrength Training – Personal Training in a Small Group Format
The majority of your coaching will involve delivering strength-focused personal training in our small-group format (SGPT),
with a maximum of six members per coach.
You'll be responsible for:
- Delivering high-quality, technically sound strength coaching.
- Confidently coaching barbell, dumbbell and other resistance-training movements.
- Observing and correcting technique across multiple members within a session.
- Individualising exercises, loads, progressions and regressions based on each member's needs.
- Ensuring sessions are safe, appropriately challenging and delivered to a consistently high standard.
- Conducting consultations, goal-setting sessions and movement assessments.
- Tracking member progress and contributing to regular progress reviews.
- Providing practical nutrition guidance and accountability within your scope of practice.
- Building strong relationships with members and supporting their long-term training consistency.
Conditioning Sessions
You'll also coach our conditioning sessions, which complement our strength-training programme.
These sessions focus on developing cardiovascular fitness, endurance and work capacity through structured, coach-led training.
Our goal is to help members become fitter and more capable without unnecessarily compromising recovery or the quality of their strength training.
You'll be expected to deliver these sessions with the same attention to coaching quality, individualisation and member experience.
Contributing Beyond the Coaching Floor
We believe our coaches play an important role in the overall success of Denman Athletics.
As a full-time member of our team, you'll also contribute to:
Member Experience & Retention
- Building genuine relationships with members.

- Participating in member check-ins and progress reviews.
- Helping new members feel confident and supported from their first session.
Business Growth & Community
- Supporting consultations and onboarding.
- Contributing to member retention and referral initiatives.
- Participating in educational workshops, community events and member activities.
- Assisting with social media content that showcases our coaching and member experience.
Team Development
- Participating in weekly team meetings and coach education.
- Collaborating with the Head Coach and wider coaching team.
- Contributing ideas that improve coaching quality and operational efficiency.
- Upholding the professional standards and values of Denman Athletics.
