About the opportunityElectromechanical engineer specializing in industrial systems.Full-TimeYou designed it. Now see it get built. What if your engineering work didn’t end when the drawing was complete? We’re working with an established Canadian engineering and manufacturing company that designs and builds VFDs, motor control systems, switchgear, industrial control panels, and automation solutions used in demanding industrial applications across North America. This is an opportunity for an engineer who wants to be close to the product. You’ll take electrical designs and turn them into practical, buildable systems while working directly with production, suppliers, and other engineers. You’ll solve real-world problems, improve designs and processes, and see your work move from schematic to finished product. The OpportunityThis role sits at the intersection of engineering and production. You’ll be responsible for:Converting electrical schematics into physical, build-ready layoutsDesigning enclosures, component placement, and panel layouts for VFDs, MCCs, switchgear, and industrial control systemsDeveloping electrical and mechanical layouts using EPLANCreating drawings, BOMs, assembly instructions, and shop-ready documentationWorking directly with production to ensure designs are practical and manufacturableTroubleshooting design and assembly issues during productionSupporting testing and validationWorking with suppliers and vendors on component selectionImproving design standards, processes, and production efficiencyApplying Design for Manufacturing (DFM/DFX)
principlesWhat You’ll BringEngineering BackgroundDegree in Electromechanical, Electrical, or Systems EngineeringRegistered or eligible for E. I. T. or P. Eng. designation5–10 years of relevant engineering experienceExperience with panel design, VFDs, MCCs and/or switchgearStrong understanding of electrical system integrationExperience with mechanical layouts and enclosure designPractical understanding of manufacturing and production workflowsTechnical SkillsEPLAN experience is highly preferredAuto CAD Electrical is an assetExperience in high-mix, low-volume manufacturingExperience with multi-level BOMs and product structuresExperience developing assembly and work instructionsStrong understanding of DFM/DFXLean or Six Sigma experience is an assetNet Suite or other ERP experience is a plusYou’ll Be a Great Fit If YouEnjoy understanding how things are actually built, not just how they look on a drawingLike solving problems directly with production teamsNotice opportunities to make designs simpler, cleaner, and easier to manufactureTake pride in seeing your designs become finished productsEnjoy working across engineering, production,
and suppliersWant to continue developing technically while having a visible impact on the businessWhat Success Looks LikeWithin your first 12–24 months, you’ll have helped strengthen the connection between engineering and production.Success will include:Clearer and more build-ready designsLess rework and fewer production errorsMore consistent design standards and processesImproved production efficiencyStronger collaboration between engineering and productionHigher overall design and execution qualityMost importantly, you’ll be able to walk onto the shop floor and see products you helped design being built.Compensation & Benefits$100,000–$120,000 base salary, with flexibility for the right candidate.Plus:Performance-based bonusExtended health and dental benefitsRRSP matchingPaid time off for personal wellnessOngoing training and professional developmentTeam events and team-oriented working environmentOpportunity for increasing technical responsibility and career growthCareer GrowthThis is more than a role focused on producing drawings. As you establish yourself, you’ll have the opportunity to take on greater technical responsibility and become a key contributor in design quality, manufacturability, process improvement, and production execution.Ready to Build Something Better? If you’re an engineer who wants to see your work move from schematic to finished product, this could be worth a conversation. If you enjoy practical engineering, solving real-world problems, and working closely with the people who build what you design, we’d like to hear from you.#J-18808-Ljbffr
