Job : The inpatient surgical Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an advanced practice nurse with knowledge and skills gained through additional education and experience. The NP blends an in-depth knowledge of nursing with the legal authority and autonomy to order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe pharmaceuticals, provide education, and perform specific procedures in the management and treatment of surgical patients. The NP is prepared with the necessary competencies to practice in health care settings that assess and treat patients with varying care needs, ranging from common to complex patients with medical co-morbidities. Using advanced skills,
the inpatient surgery NP will facilitate the coordination and provision of care to provide seamless transitions throughout the health system. The NP practices within a framework of evidence-based acute care, holism, health promotion, and disease and injury prevention. The NP collaborates with interdisciplinary team members and liaises with health professionals and agencies throughout the organization to facilitate high quality care for the patient and families.
Master of Nursing (MN)
Valid Class 5 driver's license
Knowledge in conflict resolution techniques
Knowledge in community development and facilitation strategies
