About the Role
The Company is seeking an Executive Director to provide strategic and enterprise leadership for its shared-service organization, which plays a critical role in the Canadian higher education sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for organizational strategy, service delivery, technology and product modernization, cybersecurity and risk management, finance, people and culture, data governance, and maintaining relationships across the university sector. This role demands a collaborative and politically astute executive with a proven track record in leading a complex, technology-enabled organization and a strong background in strategic, financial, and organizational leadership. The Executive Director will work closely with various stakeholders, including government partners, to ensure the organization continues to deliver exceptional value while upholding its reputation as a trusted,
neutral shared service.
The ideal candidate for the Executive Director position at the company will be a values-based leader with a focus on humility, integrity, curiosity, and respect. They should be an active listener, an effective consensus-builder, and capable of inspiring confidence while empowering high-performing teams. While not required to be a technical specialist, the candidate must have executive-level fluency in technology, cybersecurity, data governance, and artificial intelligence to provide informed oversight and strategic direction. Experience in post-secondary education, a membership-based organization, a shared-service workplace, or a complex public or not-for-profit setting is highly valued, with knowledge of the Ontario university sector and its governance, enrollment, and policy environment being significant assets. The role also requires the ability to balance innovation with operational reliability and long-term strategy with day-to-day excellence.
