I’m looking for a kind, patient and reliable senior caregiver to support my mother, who has early-stage Alzheimer’s and lives independently in Toronto’s east end, near Leslieville. I’m hoping to find someone for one day per week, with the possibility of additional hours as her needs evolve. I’m looking for someone interested in a consistent, long-term arrangement who can build a trusting relationship with my mother.

Responsibilities * Medical appointments: Accompany my mother to doctor’s appointments and other medical appointments, help her navigate the day, and communicate relevant updates to me afterward. * Transportation and errands: Accompany her to appointments and local errands by car, taxi, public transit or on foot, as appropriate. * Companionship: Spend time with her, engage in conversation and activities, and help her maintain her independence and quality of life. * Laundry and light housekeeping: Do laundry, change bed linens, tidy up and help keep her home organized. * Medication reminders: Remind her to take her pre-organized medications as scheduled.

Medication administration is not required.

Ideally, I will schedule most of my mother’s appointments on the day the caregiver works so that they can accompany her and help make the day manageable.

About the ideal candidate * Experience supporting older adults, preferably people living with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia.



* PSW certification or equivalent relevant caregiving experience. * Warm, patient, trustworthy, organized and dependable. * Comfortable accompanying a senior to appointments independently. * Valuable communication skills and sound judgment. * Able to provide references and willing to complete a background check. A driver’s licence and access to a vehicle would be helpful but are not essential.

Position details Location: Leslieville, Toronto, Ontario Schedule: One day per week, Tuesday or Wednesday, for approximately 4–8 hours.

The specific day and hours can be agreed upon based on availability and the week’s needs.

There may be opportunities for additional shifts as my mother’s support needs evolve.

Compensation: Competitive hourly rate, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
