About the company

Norlease is building the first verified rental listing platform for North Bay and Northern Ontario. Most rental sites let anyone post anything, so renters end up chasing fake landlords and listings that don’t exist. On Norlease, every landlord goes through phone verification and manual ID review before a listing goes live. It’s free for renters and landlords, and the platform is already live in production.

Norlease runs on a lean, self-managed infrastructure setup, and we’re looking for a cloud engineer to take ownership of it as the platform grows from one city to a whole region. You’d make sure what’s running today is reliable, secure, and affordable, and build the foundations for what comes next.

What you’ll work on

- Managing and hardening our production environment on Hetzner, deployed through Coolify with Docker, including firewall rules, server access, and OS updates
- Setting up proper monitoring, logging, and alerting so problems get caught before users notice them
- Designing and testing backup and recovery for our Postgres database and object storage, so we know a restore actually works
- Improving deployment workflows with CI/CD, staging environments, and secure rollbacks
- Managing DNS, caching, and edge configuration through Cloudflare, along with email deliverability records




- Keeping an eye on resource usage and cloud spend, and planning for growth, including when to scale out from a single server
- Supporting our supporting services, such as a self hosted routing engine, background job workers, and object storage on Cloudflare R2

You’ll work directly with the founder and the engineering team, and you’ll have real say in how the infrastructure evolves.

Qualifications

- 2+ years of experience in cloud, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering
- Hands on experience with Linux servers, Docker, and reverse proxies
- Comfortable with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation (Terraform, Ansible, or similar is a plus)
- Solid understanding of networking basics, DNS, TLS, and server security
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools
- Familiarity with managed Postgres and object storage (Neon, Cloudflare R2, or S3 compatible services)
- Able to work independently and communicate clearly in writing
- Bonus: experience with Hetzner, Coolify, Cloudflare, or running production systems on a small budget
