Job Overview
BTOWN Print Studio is looking for a creative, detail-oriented, and fast Graphic Designer to join our team. We specialize in custom event printing, wedding stationery, signage, dance floor wraps, foam board cutouts, backdrops, and other personalized print products.
We are looking for someone with strong design skills who understands both creative design and print production. The ideal candidate can turn inspiration pictures, client ideas, and existing artwork into professional designs and production-ready files for printing, tracing, cutting, scoring, and assembly.
This role requires someone who can work efficiently, handle a high volume of design requests daily, and maintain excellent attention to detail while meeting tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
1. Print-Ready File Preparation & Cutting Paths
- Create print-ready artwork and production files using Adobe Illustrator.
- Trace images, logos, shapes, text, and designs to create clean vector artwork and cutting paths.
- Prepare files for vinyl cutting, foam board cutouts, custom shapes, signage, and other print-and-cut applications.
- Create and edit vector paths, outlines, offset paths, and cut contours for production.
- Prepare files with appropriate cut lines, fold lines, scoring lines, and assembly guides.
- Understand the difference between print layers, cut lines, score lines, and fold lines.
- Ensure files are correctly sized and organized for printing and cutting equipment.
2. Event & Wedding Design
- Design welcome signs, seating charts, seating plans, wedding signage, menus, table numbers, invitations, and other event stationery.
- Create attractive dance floor wraps, backdrops, foam board displays, props, and custom event graphics.
- Recreate or adapt designs from inspiration pictures,
client references, and sample designs.
- Demonstrate a strong sense of design, layout, typography, font pairing, spacing, colour combinations, and visual balance.
- Customize fonts, text layouts, and graphic elements to suit each project and client requirement.
3. 2D-to-3D Print Production
- Prepare 2D artwork that can be printed and assembled into three-dimensional displays and props.
- Design individual panels, side strips, tabs, folds, and other components required to create a 3D effect.
- Incorporate appropriate fold lines, scoring lines, and cut lines to make assembly easier and more accurate.
- Understand how flat printed pieces fit together to create dimensional displays, structures, and event props.
4. Daily Design Production
- Complete approximately 40–50 print-and-cut files per day, depending on complexity.
- Work quickly and efficiently while maintaining accuracy and consistent quality.
- Manage multiple projects and prioritize urgent orders.
- Make revisions, correct artwork, resize designs, and prepare files according to production requirements.
- Communicate with the print production team to ensure designs are practical and ready for manufacturing.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, especially image tracing, vector editing, path creation, and preparing files for cutting.
- Experience preparing artwork for large-format printing, signage, vinyl cutting, or custom print production.
- Strong understanding of typography, fonts, layouts, colour combinations, and graphic design principles.
- Ability to recreate designs from reference images or develop original designs from basic client instructions.
- Knowledge of cut paths, contour cutting, fold lines, scoring lines, and print-and-cut file preparation.
- Ability to prepare flat artwork for 3D assembly and dimensional displays.
- Excellent speed, accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and handle a high volume of daily orders.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Canva for event designs and quick design production.
- Experience in wedding stationery, event signage, dance floor wraps, backdrops, foam board printing, or custom props.
- Familiarity with CorelDRAW or other vector design software.
- Experience working in a print shop, sign shop, event printing business, or large-format printing setting.
