South End Medical

Albert Park

South End Medical is an established, well-run clinic in Regina, Saskatchewan, and we are adding a family physician to the practice. Patients are waiting, the support staff are in place, and the schedule is yours to set.

We are looking for a compassionate, curious physician who pairs strong evidence-based medicine with real attention to how patients eat, move, sleep, and manage stress — and who wants to practise in an environment built to support both.

The Role

Patients are already waiting. Regina is growing quickly, and more people are looking for a family physician than there are physicians able to take them on. You are not cold-starting a panel — there is a waiting list ready for you from your first week, and we shape it with you so your panel reflects the medicine you actually want to practise.

- Full-scope outpatient family medicine — with our patient-flow systems and staff behind you from dayone
- Procedural variety — skin procedures, joint injections, IUD insertions and more
- You set your own schedule. 4 or 5 days a week, your choice. Start and finish when you like. Evenings and weekends are available if they suit you better — and the provincial fee schedule pays a 50% premium on visits after 5 p.m., on weekends and on statutory holidays.
- Dedicated medical assistant and front desk support — the MA rooms your patients, takes vitals and captures the presenting concern before you walk in; the front desk handles reception, booking, incoming referrals, faxes and the administrative side of billing
- Accuro EMR with Heidi AI scribe — documentation handled in real time, so you leave with your notes done
- Clinical decisions led by you, supported by the team

Beyond outpatient care: Hospital privileges, long-term care, and urgent care opportunities are available through the Saskatchewan Health Authority. An SHA appointment is required to access the Transitional Payment Model, and we will help you obtain one. We simply ask that outpatient care remains your primaryfocus.

What Doing a Outstanding Job Looks Like

- You treat patients with compassion and respect, with excellent bedside manner
- You see patients efficiently and on time, so access to care stays timely
- You apply sound clinical judgment — thorough, well-reasoned diagnoses, with specialist input sought when appropriate
- You review and edit AI-generated notes promptly, keeping the record accurate
- You confirm the code and diagnosis for each visit and submit your claims daily — the front desk supports the administrative side of billing (reconciliation,

rejected claims and follow-up), so you are not chasingpaperwork
- You collaborate well with your medical assistant and the rest of the clinic team

Mentorship & Growth

Whether you are finishing residency or relocating your practice, you will not be thrown in the deep end.

- 1-on-1 mentorship from Dr. Anita Lwanga — Internist and Geriatrician with a degree in exercise physiology
- Hands-on guidance on using AI and technology to see more patients without taking work home
- Active support shaping your panel and building your professional reputation in Regina
- Additional training welcome — physicians with expertise in areas such as sports and exercise medicine, lifestyle medicine, or palliative care are encouraged to bring it into the practice from day one

Meet Your Mentor — Dr. Anita Lwanga

Dr. Lwanga is an Internist and Geriatrician who also holds a degree in exercise physiology. Her practice is grounded in evidence-based medicine, with a conviction that treatment works best when it also addresses how patients eat, move, sleep, and manage stress — lifestyle alongside the prescription pad, not instead of it.

She completed her residency and fellowship in Chicago, worked as a Hospitalist and Nocturnist in Upstate New York, and now leads a thriving, tech-forward practice in Regina. She also works in local hospitals and hosts the "Empowered Wellness with Dr. Lwanga" podcast, where she shares practical strategies for keeping patients healthy and out of hospital.

Having made the move from the US herself, Dr. Lwanga understands firsthand what the transition involves — professionally and personally — and is well positioned to help you navigate it.

This Role is a Great Fit If You…

- Believe lifestyle — diet, exercise, sleep, stress management — belongs in patient care alongside evidence-based treatment
- Want to work alongside a mentor who practises and teaches this approach every day
- Have a strong work ethic and show up reliably for your team and your patients
- Embrace technology and are open to better ways of working
- Enjoy lifelong learning and staying current with evidence-based medicine

- Want to build a long-term practice in a community that values you
- Are a resident finishing training or an experienced physician ready for your next chapter

This Role is Not for You If…

- You do not enjoy learning new things — this practice keeps evolving, and so will you
- You do not want to take on the vision and mission of the practice — lifestyle alongside evidence-based medicine, delivered by a team
- You resist new workflows, tools, or team-based models
- You prefer to work in isolation without support staff or collegial input

Compensation, Eligibility & Benefits

Compensation is based on productivity — you bill under your own number and keep the majority of what you bill, under a competitive overhead arrangement. We are helping build your panel, so the structure is designed to support you while your practice establishes. Specific terms are discussed with serious candidates and confirmed in writing before any offer.

- Saskatchewan's payment structure — fee-for-service billings under your own number, plus the provincial

Transitional Payment Model, a capitation payment paid on top of your billings. Physicians new to practice receive a credited panel size for their first two years, so the payment supports you from the start. TPM participation requires SHA privileges and membership in a family physician call group — we will walk you through both. Saskatchewan family physicians were the second-highest paid in Canada in the most recent CIHI data (fiscal year 2023 to 2024) — full earnings detail is in our Physician Information Package.

- Eligibility — CCFP certification or eligibility, and licensure (or eligibility for licensure) with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan. US-trained: for ABFM board-certified physicians who completed an ACGME-accredited family medicine residency, the CFPC may grant CCFP certification without examination once a provisional Saskatchewan licence is in place — our information package walks the pathway through step by step
- SMA benefits — Saskatchewan physicians access a retention fund, a parental leave fund, CME reimbursement, and CMPA fee reimbursement — in Regina, not just rural postings
