Residential Construction Site Supervisor

About Due North Homes

Due North Homes is an established custom-home builder specializing in quality residential construction and renovation projects throughout Parkland County, Lac Ste. Anne County, and surrounding areas of Alberta.

We have spent over 20 years developing strong relationships with experienced subcontractors and suppliers, building quality homes, and providing personalized service to our clients.

As our business continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Residential Construction Site Supervisor to join our team.

About the Position

We are seeking a knowledgeable, organized, and motivated individual with extensive residential construction experience and a strong commitment to quality workmanship.

The successful candidate will work directly with the owner of Due North Homes, overseeing daily construction activities across multiple custom-home projects.

Our primary focus is quality control, subcontractor accountability, and effective construction coordination.

We are looking for someone who understands residential construction from foundation through final finishing, recognizes deficiencies, and has the confidence and experience to ensure work is completed to the expected standards.

This is primarily a supervisory position rather than a hands-on carpentry role. The successful candidate must be comfortable working independently, anticipating construction requirements, and maintaining productive relationships with established subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Control and Workmanship

- Monitor construction quality throughout all stages of residential construction.
- Ensure work meets approved drawings, specifications, applicable building requirements, and Due North Homes' workmanship standards.
- Identify construction deficiencies early and coordinate corrective work with the responsible subcontractors.
- Verify that deficiencies have been satisfactorily corrected before subsequent work proceeds.
- Maintain consistent quality standards across multiple projects.

Subcontractor Supervision and Coordination

- Coordinate daily activities of subcontractors and suppliers.
- Communicate workmanship expectations and construction requirements clearly and professionally.
- Hold subcontractors accountable for completing work correctly and within agreed schedules.
- Maintain positive working relationships with established trades and suppliers.
- Anticipate upcoming construction activities and ensure sites are prepared for scheduled work.

Construction Scheduling and Site Oversight

- Coordinate construction schedules and monitor progress across multiple residential projects.
- Identify potential scheduling conflicts, material shortages, and construction issues before they affect progress.
- Review architectural and structural drawings to confirm construction requirements.
- Coordinate site inspections, deliveries, and upcoming trade activities.
- Maintain organized, qualified, and safe construction sites.
- Document project progress, deficiencies, and outstanding items using CoConstruct.
- Communicate regularly with the owner regarding project progress, scheduling, and construction decisions.

Qualifications and Experience

- Minimum 7 years of residential construction experience preferred.
- Previous experience supervising residential construction projects and subcontractors.
- Strong understanding of residential construction methods, materials, sequencing, and workmanship standards.
- Demonstrated ability to identify construction deficiencies and coordinate corrective work.
- Experience in custom-home construction is strongly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
- Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently.

- Valid driver's licence and ability to travel between construction sites.
- Comfortable using digital project management and communication tools.

A carpentry trade certification is an asset but is not required. Practical construction knowledge, supervisory experience, sound judgment, and a commitment to quality workmanship are our priorities.

Compensation and Benefits

- Annual salary of $70,000–$85,000, based on qualifications and experience.
- Vehicle allowance or company-provided vehicle arrangement, depending on operational requirements.
- Cellphone allowance.
- Health spending benefit.
- Three weeks of paid vacation.
- Annual performance-based bonus opportunity.
- Full-time, permanent, year-round employment.

Work Location

Projects are primarily located throughout Parkland County, Lac Ste. Anne County, and surrounding communities.

Candidates residing in Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, Onoway, or surrounding areas west and northwest of Edmonton are encouraged to apply.

Regular travel between construction sites is required.
