About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Senior Accountant will own full-cycle accounting, including payroll, across three related entities in a fast-paced, project-driven construction environment. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives on variety, stays organized under competing priorities, and wants to grow their career alongside their CPA designation.

Key Responsibilities

Full-Cycle Accounting

- Perform full-cycle accounting for three entities in QuickBooks Online (QBO), including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, bank and credit card reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and working papers for review by the CFO.
- Process payroll accurately and on schedule, including source deductions, remittances, records of employment, and year-end reporting (T4s).
- Prepare and file government remittances, including GST, payroll withholdings, and WCB, and support corporate tax filings alongside external accountants.
- Manage intercompany transactions, allocations, and reconciliations across the three entities.

Project & Job Costing

- Maintain project cost accounting, including job setup, cost coding, budget tracking, and cost-to-complete analysis.
- Track holdbacks on the projects.
- Work with project managers and operations staff to ensure costs are coded to the correct projects and phases.
- Flag budget variances and cost overruns to the CFO on a timely basis.

Reporting & Support

- Assist the CFO with cash flow monitoring, forecasting, budgeting,

and ad hoc analysis.
- Support year-end engagements with external accountants, including preparing schedules and responding to queries.
- Maintain organized, audit-ready records and continuously improve accounting processes and internal controls.

Qualifications & Experience

- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Actively enrolled in, or working toward, the CPA designation (required).
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, including full-cycle accounting and payroll.
- Hands-on project costing / job costing experience, ideally in construction or another project-based industry.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online (QBO) and strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Working knowledge of payroll legislation, government remittances, and construction-specific concepts such as WIP, holdbacks, and progress billing.

Key Attributes

- Highly organized, with the proven ability to multi-task and manage priorities across three entities and multiple active projects.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the judgment to know when to escalate issues.
- Self-starter who takes ownership of deadlines and works well with minimal supervision.
- Clear communicator, comfortable working with the CFO, project managers, and field and office staff.
- Discretion and professionalism in handling confidential payroll and financial information.

What We Offer

- Competitive compensation, commensurate with experience.
- Direct mentorship from the CFO and support for your CPA journey.
- Broad exposure to multi-entity, project-based accounting in a growing construction business.
- A cooperative, in-office team environment, Monday to Friday.

Pay: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year

Benefits:

- On-site parking
