Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable, safety-oriented 5th Class Power Engineer / Maintenance Technician to oversee our boiler and utility systems while supporting daily mechanical operations across our facility. In this role, you will ensure the continuous, safe, and efficient operation of our steam, HVAC, and building systems.

This position is ideal for a proactive tradesperson or certified operator seeking steady, hands-on industrial maintenance experience. We actively support professional development and will provide approved steam-time hours toward your 4th or 5th Class certification.

Key Responsibilities

Stationary Plant & Utility Operations:

- Operate, monitor, and conduct routine checks on low-pressure steam boilers, compressed air, and HVAC systems in strict compliance with safety regulations and operational codes.
- Log process variables (pressures, temperatures, water levels) and adjust chemical water treatment systems accordingly.

Mechanical & Preventative Maintenance:

- Execute preventative and corrective maintenance on plant equipment, including pumps, motors, gearboxes, valves, and pneumatic systems.




- Perform systematic troubleshooting on mechanical and basic low-voltage electrical components using equipment schematics and technical manuals.
- Manage and document work orders, inspections, and parts inventory using our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

Facility Upkeep & Safety Compliance:

- Assist with general facility and building infrastructure maintenance to minimize operational downtime and maintain audit readiness.
- Maintain clean, hazard-free boiler rooms and mechanical spaces.
- Follow plant safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Confined Space Entry, and hazardous material protocols.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

- Valid 5th Class (or higher) Power Engineer’s Certificate of Competency OR completion of an accredited 5th/4th Class Power Engineering course requiring qualifying steam time.
- 1+ years of hands-on mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or commercial plant environment.
- Solid mechanical aptitude with the ability to interpret technical drawings, P&IDs;, and equipment manuals.
- Demonstrated commitment to plant safety and regulatory compliance.
- Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs, work at heights or in confined spaces, and handle routine physical tasks safely.

Preferred Assets:

- Certified ticket in a complementary trade (e.g., Industrial Electrician, Millwright) or relevant apprenticeship experience.
- Prior experience in a regulated production environment (e.g., Food Manufacturing, Consumer Goods, or Energy/Utilities).
- Mobile equipment certifications (Forklift, Scissor Lift).
