As our company continues to grow, we are creating a Senior Accountant position for the first time. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to build, lead, and shape the finance function while acting as a trusted advisor to company leadership.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a highly capable Senior Accountant who is ready to take ownership of our accounting operations, provide financial leadership, and drive continuous improvement across the organization.

This role is more than traditional accounting. You'll be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, improving processes, managing a small Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable team, and providing meaningful financial insights that help business leaders make informed decisions.

The ideal candidate enjoys working in a growing entrepreneurial workplace, is comfortable rolling up their sleeves when needed, and can translate financial data into practical business recommendations.

Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

- Lead month-end and year-end close processes.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and management reports.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure all transactions are recorded accurately.
- Perform account reconciliations and investigate variances.
- Support annual financial reviews, audits, and tax preparation.

Strategic Financial Leadership

- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to company stakeholders.
- Develop budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
- Monitor company performance and identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency.




- Create and track key financial metrics and KPIs.
- Assist leadership in evaluating business opportunities, investments, and operational initiatives.

Team Leadership

- Oversee and support a small Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable team.
- Establish priorities, improve workflows, and ensure service standards are maintained.
- Coach and develop team members while promoting accountability and continuous improvement.

Process Improvement & Controls

- Evaluate existing accounting processes and implement improvements.
- Strengthen internal controls and financial procedures.
- Support system implementations and automation initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.

Cash Flow & Working Capital

- Monitor cash flow and working capital requirements.
- Partner with operations and sales teams to improve collection performance and financial visibility.
- Assist with banking relationships and financial reporting requirements.

Qualifications

- CPA designation (completed or nearing completion preferred).
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Experience leading or supervising accounting staff.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting and ERP systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience in logistics, transportation, freight forwarding, warehousing, or a related industry is considered an asset.

Pay: $59,300.00-$101,000.00 per year
