We are currently looking to hire a Service Writer to join our team of professionals in ensuring we continue to provide reliable service within our Shop.

Requirements

- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Service Writer in the heavy truck, commercial vehicle, or fleet maintenance industry.
- Knowledge of heavy-duty truck and trailer parts, parts identification, and ordering is considered an asset.
- Experience in a heavy-duty parts department or parts inventory management is an asset.
- Robust communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize repairs and manage multiple work orders in a fast-paced environment.
- Axon knowledge is considered an asset.
- Safe and professional work practices are mandatory.
- Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs, as required.

Responsibilities

- Coordinate service requests and repairs for VDM’s company-owned fleet of trucks, trailers, and equipment.
- Open and maintain work orders, documenting repair requests, labour, parts, and maintenance requirements.
- Work with the Shop Foreman to prioritize repairs and schedule maintenance.
- Communicate with mechanics and operations to coordinate equipment availability and repair timelines.
- Provide updates on repair progress and expected completion times.
- Assist with identifying, sourcing, and ordering heavy-duty parts as required.
- Track parts orders and follow up on outstanding items to minimize equipment downtime.




- Ensure work orders are accurate and closed in a timely manner.
- Maintain organized service records and assist with tracking preventative maintenance requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized service counter and workspace.
- Perform other duties as required.

Skills

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Attention to detail and accuracy when documenting repairs and preparing work orders.
- Knowledge of heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and mechanical parts.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
