We are looking for hardworking and reliable Fiber Optic Hand Spade Crew Members to join our underground telecommunications construction team.

The successful candidates will be responsible for hand digging, trenching, and installing underground fiber optic cables for residential and commercial projects.

We are looking for individuals who are physically fit, safety-conscious, and comfortable working outdoors in different weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform manual digging and trenching using shovels, spades, and other hand tools.
- Install underground fiber optic drop cables from property lines to residential and commercial buildings.
- Dig trenches to the required depth while avoiding existing underground utilities.
- Expose utilities safely using approved hand-digging techniques.
- Install conduits and protective piping where required.
- Complete backfilling, soil compaction, and surface restoration.
- Restore lawns, gardens, gravel, and other disturbed surfaces to their original condition.
- Follow utility locates, construction drawings, and supervisor instructions.
- Complete daily safety assessments and follow company safety procedures.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean worksite.
- Work efficiently with crew members to meet daily production targets.

Requirements





- Previous experience in fiber optic drop installation, hand digging, landscaping, or underground construction is preferred.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, bending, kneeling, and digging for extended periods.
- Knowledge of underground utility safety and safe excavation practices is an asset.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable transportation to designated worksites or meeting locations.
- Valid driver’s licence is an asset.
- Must be punctual, dependable, and willing to work outdoors.
- Willingness to travel when required.
