Metanoia Café & Dessert Bar is a boutique café in the heart of Humber Bay Shores, specializing in premium specialty coffees, handcrafted beverages, artisan pastries, and an exceptional customer experience.

We are seeking an energetic, dependable, detail-oriented, and customer-focused individual to join our team on a part time basis, with a strong emphasis on weekend and holiday availability.

Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer Service & Guest Experience

- Welcome customers with professionalism, warmth, and enthusiasm.
- Assist customers with menu selections, product information, and recommendations.
- Provide attentive, efficient, and friendly service throughout each shift.
- Create a positive customer experience that encourages repeat visits.
- Assit the bakery and Barista section when needed
- Attend to the aesthetics and operations of the cafe.
- Support upselling and cross-selling of bakery products, beverages, and specialty items.Point of Sale (POS) & Cash Handling
- Accurately process customer orders through the POS system.
- Handle cash, debit, credit card, and electronic payments.
- Ensure orders are entered correctly and communicated to the appropriate team members.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient checkout counters, displays, cafe customer sections and inventory.
- Follow established cash-handling and transaction procedures.

Bakery Support & Product Presentation

- Assist the bakery department with daily operational tasks as directed.
- Replenish pastries, desserts, and other bakery products throughout the day.
- Maintain attractive, organized, and fully stocked bakery display cases.
- Ensure all products are properly labelled and presented according to Metanoia standards.
- Monitor product freshness, appearance, and availability.
- Assist with packaging bakery products and preparing customer orders.




- Communicate low-stock items and replenishment requirements to the bakery team.
- Follow proper food-handling and hygiene procedures.

Café Organization & Attention to Detail

- Continuously monitor the café environment to ensure cleanliness, organization, and presentation.
- Maintain clean tables, counters, service stations, and customer seating areas.
- Replenish napkins, cups, lids, utensils, packaging, and other essential supplies.
- Keep the condiment and customer service areas clean and fully stocked.
- Ensure display areas, shelves, and retail products are neatly organized.
- Identify and address tasks proactively without waiting for instructions.
- Assist with opening, closing, and shift-transition responsibilities.

Teamwork & Operational Support

- Work closely with baristas, bakers, and management to maintain smooth daily operations.
- Provide additional support during high-volume service periods.
- Assist with receiving, organizing, and storing deliveries when required.
- Follow established operational procedures, service standards, and workplace policies.
- Complete assigned responsibilities efficiently while maintaining quality.
- Demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to assist in different areas of the café.

Qualifications & Requirements

Required:

- Previous experience in customer service, hospitality, food service, retail, or a similar environment.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a busy environment.
- Positive attitude, professional appearance, and strong work ethic.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently.
- Comfortable standing and moving throughout scheduled shifts.
- Willingness to learn Metanoia's products, service standards, and operational procedures.
- Reliable availability on Saturdays, Sundays, and statutory holidays.

Preferred:

- Previous café, bakery,



or restaurant experience.
- Familiarity with POS systems and cash handling.
- Knowledge of pastries, desserts, and specialty coffee products.
- Food Handler Certification.
- Experience with merchandising, product displays, or inventory replenishment.

Schedule & Availability

This is a part-time position

Candidates must have consistent availability on Saturdays and Sundays, including morning, afternoon, or evening shifts depending on operational requirements.

Additional weekday shifts may be offered based on business needs and employee availability.
