Job Overview

St. Helens Meat Packers is looking for a reliable, hands-on Lead Hand / Assistant Supervisor for our chicken processing department.

The successful candidate will work alongside the production team, coordinate daily activities, and assist with the overall operation of the department. This person must be willing to lead by example, take initiative, and assume responsibility for running the department when the supervisor is absent.

Experience in meat or poultry processing is preferred, but candidates with general food manufacturing experience and strong leadership potential will also be considered.

Responsibilities

- Work alongside employees in chicken processing and packaging.
- Coordinate daily production activities and assign tasks.
- Assist the supervisor with daily operations.
- Monitor production, product quality, and yields.
- Ensure food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures are followed.
- Assist with employee training and problem-solving.
- Maintain a clean, organized,



and efficient work area.
- Oversee department operations when the supervisor is absent.
- Learn additional processes and equipment as required.

Qualifications

- Meat, poultry, or food manufacturing experience preferred.
- Previous lead hand or supervisory experience is an asset.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to lead by example and work effectively with a team.
- Reliable, punctual, and willing to take responsibility.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation is an asset.
- Willingness to work some weekends and nights as required.
